Xerox Phaser 8400N

A modest price, bright colors, and fine text quality outweigh some negatives of the Phaser 8400N's exotic printing technology.

The Phaser 8400N is a good fit if your office prints a lot of informational color graphics.

service and support

Xerox Phaser 8400B

Prints color graphics quickly; inexpensive solid inks are easy to replace; high paper capacity; true PostScript and PCL.

Expensive; slow monochrome text speeds; merely fair overall print quality.

Although the solid-ink-based Xerox Phaser 8400 color laser series offers expandability for a growing small business, the merely fair image quality might disappoint.

Fastest time to print a single page ; Generous RAM configuration with Panther

No Ethernet ; Slow to warm up ; Driver incompatibilities

Nicely designed but, while first-page-out speeds are fast, overall performance and print quality are distinctly lacking.

Xerox Phaser 8400 Series Color Printer

What's faster than most laser printers, prints much like an offset printing press, and costs $1,000?

We also saw some posterization in photos, which makes this the wrong printer if you want high-quality photo output. But for outstanding text and brilliant color graphics, the Phaser 8400 will give you beautiful output at faster speeds than any other...

Color Laser Printers

Any of these printers would be an acceptable choice for printing heavy text and occasional color graphics. But we recommend the Lexmark C510n for its generous RAM configuration, expansion options, great print quality, and rapid speed.

Phaser 8400N

Nonetheless, The Phaser 8400 is an absolute bargain for designers - especially freelancers, who can pick up the non-networked version for £699 plus VAT. Either way, it's the best you can get for under a grand

Like the color output

Tech services was quick to order the parts and get a tech out to fix it since it was under 1 year warranty.

As a tech guy I was asked to find a printer that was cost effective. Well..I found this one with a huge rebte (no more) that almost made it half price ; Fast tech service

After 1500 prints from February to July, the control panel displayed an error message "07,010.43" which I tried in vain to fix myself. I was told straight up that it needed to be fixed by a tech with replacement parts ; Can't laminate output because...

THE networked alternative to laser and inkjet

What is it The Phaser 8400N Thermal printer is a network color printer that uses blocks of solid wax for toner. That is why this type of machine is referred to as a Solid Ink Printer. Some people (even fellow reviewers) confuse them with ...

Excellent print quality on plain paper

Expensive to operate. Doesn't like continuous black and white printing

Xerox Phaser 8400N

My wife and I have been considering a XEROX solid ink printer since we first discovered the Phaser 8200 a couple of years ago. Well we found toward the end of May 2005 that Xerox was offering a $500 rebate on the XEROX Phaser 8400N until the end of...

Great quality, fast, clean, seemingly easier maintenance than laser

High initial cost, possibly high replenishment costs, heat sensitive output (minor)
