Xerox Phaser 8500

The Xerox Phaser 8500N provides fast color printing; a low-cost, low-waste solid-ink system; great software; and expandable paper handling and memory.

The Xerox 8500N serves up mediocre print quality.

Color lasers offer better output quality than this solid-ink printer, but the Xerox Phaser 8500N is faster, less costly to maintain, and kinder to your energy bill.

Xerox Phaser 8500N

The Xerox Phaser 8500N is a solid-ink printer that offers better output quality than comparable lasers but at a slightly slower speed.

High quality output. Easy installation. Ample paper capacity, with 625 sheets standard.

Compared with similarly priced color lasers, overall performance is a touch on the slow side, apart from excellent speed for one- and two-page documents.

Xerox Phaser 8500DN

The Phaser 8500DN is a great office printer-it's fast, and its management tools make it feel more like a full-featured medium workgroup printer than an economy color laser.

Fast ; Bonjour enabled ; includes PostScript 3 ; automatic two-sided printing ; nice set of management tools

Slow to warm up

On the plus side, the unit did appear automatically as a Bonjour printer when I connected it to the network. If you check Include Bonjour in your Safari Bookmarks preferences, you can administer and even download the latest printer driver

Inkjet and laser printer hybrid? Kind of

Very fast prints ; Very easy maintenance ; 3,000 pages between refills ; Low running costs

Five-minute warm-up at switch on ; Photos not up to inkjet quality

A cross between an inkjet and a laser printer, this new-fangled option is fast and cheap to run

Good printer ... while it lasts.

June 2006 - we needed a new printer to replace our Phaser 860. We loved the previous model phaser, that we decided to get a new one. Now, it was pretty good - but - with issues. I'll start with the positive ones: - Ink consumption is ...
