The universal acclaim for BenQ's GP1 LED projector is deafening. Naturally, some trade-offs were made in brightness, contrast, and resolution in order to squee...

BenQ Joybee GP1

At 1.4 pounds (3 pounds traveling weight), the compact BenQ Joybee GP1 ($499 as of 8/7/09) is the second-smallest LED projector in the group of seven projectors (four lamp-based and three LED-based) that we tested for our recent ultraportable...

Combination projector/media player ; 20,000 hours of LED light

Low brightness (100 lumens) ; Short input cable

This compact LED projector displays good-looking images with or without a PC attached, but it works best only in low lighting.

BenQ Joybee GP1

The clear winner for most versatile palmtop projector, the BenQ Joybee GP1 can show input from a computer, video source, or USB memory key.

Highly portable. Surprisingly loud audio. LED light source with 20,000-hour lifetime. Shows photos, presentations, and video from USB memory key.

Some minor image quality flaws for data projection.

Small footprint ; Bright LED output ; Great for portability

Fixed lens ; Large external power supply ; Included case only holds main projector unit

BenQ Joybee GP1 Review

Our previous run-ins with pico-projectors have left us vaguely disappointed, with units that will certainly fit in your pocket but underwhelm in their performance. BenQ's Joybee GP1 has sized itself out pocket-portability but promises improved quality...

Best micro-portable projector

The BenQ Joybee GP1 fills the bill for users who need something bigger than a pico projector but smaller than a full-sized portable projector, reviewers say. Barely bigger than a soda can and weighing just 1.4 pounds, portability is terrific. Colors...

Small and light, good image quality, easy to use, long bulb life

Some color complaints, steep initial learning curve, limited brightness, complaints about projector controls, power supply big and heavy
