BenQ GS50 Review

1080p resolution ; 500 ANSI lumen rating ; Acceptable color accuracy ; Impressive audio quality and volume ; Included Android TV dongle for streaming and Chromecast ; Durable and water-resistant

No 3D support ; Brightest mode has an obvious green tint ; Awkward setup for Android TV dongle

The BenQ GS50 outdoor projector is durable, smart (it will turn off the light if a curious toddler gets too close to the lens), and also delivers on both image quality and audio.

Benq: BenQ GS50 portable projector review: Portable cinema experience

BenQ is known for making some pretty good and capable projectors. The company has a portfolio of projectors that are capable of delivering 4K resolution, high-quality sound output, a wide range of connectivity options and more.

Picky USB Type-C charging. ; 100ms input lag on USB-C DisplayPort. ; Expensive. ; No Netflix available on the included Android TV dongle.

If you need a projector that can go with you, yes . The only caveat I can really present for buying the BenQ GS50 is the price tag. $800 is a decent chunk of change, and you can get portable projectors for cheaper than this, including BenQ’s own GV30...

BenQ GS50 review

Prepare to be the talk of the campsite

Gorgeous, splash-proof design ; Bright by portable projector standards ; Good audio performance

Poor black levels/contrast ; No Netflix app ; Poor motion handling

The GS50 looks great, sounds great, and has all the features a portable projector needs – except for good picture quality
