Verizon's LG Spectrum 2: Look, ma, no wires

With its wireless charging and NFC capabilities, the LG Spectrum 2 is a 4G LTE handset that won't be tied down, performs great, and costs just $100.

The ; has NFC and wireless charging capabilities, fast 4G LTE speeds, and a camera packed with features.

The Spectrum 2 comes preloaded with too much bloatware, and has a thick profile and a poor audio speaker.

With its winning combination of a reasonable price tag, wireless features, and solid performance, the Spectrum 2 is an excellent Verizon handset in its price range.

LG Spectrum 2 Review (Verizon)

We've been seeing a lot of really good high-end handsets lately (like the Galaxy Note II and the HTC DROID DNA ), but all the while, LG has been putting out some solid mid-range phones. Not too long ago, we reviewed the LG Optimus L9 , a mid-range...

What can I say? LG has made a strong showing in the mid-range field once again. I can’t find anything to really complain about as far a mid-range smartphones go – no, you don’t have the best of the best in terms of hardware, but for $99 on a two-year...

LG Spectrum 2 Review: Verizon's Mid-Range Handset War Just Got More Interesting

If you're a Verizon Wireless customer, and you're not looking to spend over $100 or so on an Android smartphone, your options aren't exactly limited at

The Spectrum 2 is probably the best mid-range handset you can buy on Verizon today. And while it's $99.99 at Big Red's retail locations, it can be had cheaper elsewhere , and by the time the new year rolls around, I wouldn't be surprised to see it...

LG Spectrum 2 Review

Mid-range smartphones are a mixed bag -- most of them are decent, but at the end of the day, they usually still leave something to be desired. However, every once in a while, a mid-range device will come along that's worthy of its accolades and has...

At any normal time throughout the year, I would say that the $100 subsidized price tag of the LG Spectrum 2 is worth every penny, but considering how you can get a Samsung Galaxy S III for next to nothing during the holiday season, I’d be lying if I...

"Way too slow."

It seems as if too much resources went into bloatware, Android modification and and the screen with the result that normal operations and the battery life is severely compromised.

Really good screen.

Lagging to the point of being unusable at times.

"Good phone -- But Not Sure About Durability"

In looking for a replacement glass/touch screen, the part I would need is listed as "out of stock" at multiple parts vendors online. Most likely this is a common problem with this phone. Bottomline, if you get this phone, be sure to get the insurance.

When it works I have no major complaints about this phone. The call quality, screen clarity, camera, etc. are all top tier. I also like the feel of the phone in your hand.

The problem is that it doesn't really seem like it's built for the long-haul. Possibly I got a defective phone, but since the problem is a crack in the screen (never dropped or hit the phone in any way), warranty replacement is out.

"Good bang for the buck!"

Had the device a week now, the learning curve was not too bad and I am fairly impressed. This is my first Android SmartPhone. Have used a BlackBerry Bold 9930 for the past year, so my review will compare this LG-S2 to the Bold (which I consider to be...

Loads of features and fairly intuitive user interface, good touch screen response

Battery life, Speakerphone volume, could stand a couple of minor updates

"A fine smartphone from LG and worthy successor."

I really liked the original Spectrum I bought when they were released and the ICS update made it even better. I decided to get the Spectrum 2 because it carried on past the original Spectrum with a few new features and several improvements (LIKE ADDING...

Powerful, great screen, native ICS, decent battery life, has SD card slot, has replaceable battery (the ones from my old Spectrum fit), NFC, fine build qualtiy and THEY FINALLY BROUGHT BACK A NOTIFICATION LIGHT (on the power button).

Square corners are a bit sharp (if I have to complain about something).
