Optoma HD26

The Optoma HD26 home-theater projector suffers from some image-quality issues in its brightest predefined mode, but delivers excellent quality with other modes.

Full 1080p resolution in 2D and 3D. Two HDMI connectors, one with Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL).

Shows rainbow artifacts, particularly in black-and-white film clips. Has additional image-quality issues in its brightest predefined mode.

If you want a projector that's guaranteed to be rainbow-free, you'll need an LCD model like our Editors' Choice Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 2030. If rainbow artifacts aren't a concern, you can save a little money by getting the Optoma HD141X and have...

A review of the Optoma HD26, a 1080p DLP Home Theater Projector

Optoma HD26

A great budget projector for gamers and movie fans alike

Superb value ; Good picture quality for the money ; Decent picture-calibration options

Very limited optical zoom ; Colours need handling with care ; Minor rainbow effect

However, the keystone approach leads to digital distortion of the image, while the digital image shift only moves the image up and down within the confines of the 1920 x 1080 chipset. In other words, you'll lose the edges of the picture, meaning this...

Optoma HD26 review

Great colour and contrast, but this Full HD projector is a flawed genius

Great value ; Colours and black levels ; Backlit remote control ; Full HD detail ; Two HDMI

Slightly soft images ; Some motion blur ; Trace of rainbow effect ; Tricky set-up

This entry-level, Full HD beamer is a surprisingly capable home cinema performer. Give it some low ambient light levels and its colour and black level performance impress. It's not perfect though; ultimately lacking overall detail in the final reckoning.

Optoma HD26 review

It has its moments, but the Optoma isn't strong enough to match its best price rivals

Clear picture Rich colours Deep blacks Compact and light design Backlit remote

Rivals offer more detail and nuance Slight motion issues Picture could be brighter

If the HD26 was notably cheaper than its rivals we would forgive its shortcomings. But there are price rivals out there, and many offer superior performance. We know you’ll find a better entry-level alternative elsewhere.

Optoma HD26 Projector Review

Optoma's latest single-chip DLP projector promises Full HD and 3D for a very attractive price.

Bright image ; Easy to setup ; Reasonable greyscale ; Good motion handling ; Competitive price

Mediocre blacks ; Undersaturated colours ; Possible rainbow artefacts

The HD26 is aimed at a specific part of the market and in that sense it succeeds in its purpose. The projector is small, light and easy to set up, whilst its brightness makes it ideal for rooms with light coloured walls or ambient light. The overall...

Can ask for more for the price

As for people saying the bulb puts out heat, yes its does and so does all other projectors. The bulb will put out heat around 100 to 130 degrees near fan. This is normal and not a defect. As for the fan being loud, if your seated next to the project,...

High Lumens and contrast ratio for the price. Great pic quality when set up correctly. Purchased from another site

For the price of the projector its hard to find anything bad. Very little screen door / rainbow effect at least for me. Again this is a $700 projector. If you want 0% screen door/rainbow purchase a $2K projector
