Optoma Technology PK102

If you want a pico projector that can display bright and colorful presentations all by itself, the Optoma PK102 ($250 as of January 11, 2010) may be what you need. Weighing 4.4 ounces, the 0.6-by-2.0-by-4.1-inch PK102 is the smallest pico projector...

Optoma PK102 Pico Pocket Projector

Small and light even for a pico projector, the Optoma PK102 Pico Pocket Projector fits in a shirt pocket with room to spare.

Extremely portable at 4.4 ounces. Connects to both computers and video devices.

Low brightness limits useful image size. Volume is far too low to be useful. No audio output.

On the plus side, my complaints about the menus apply only to the settings menu. The menus for showing videos, individual photos, and slide shows are much better designed and easy to use.—Next: Image and Audio Quality

Optoma Pico PK102 pico projector

Even if you have home cinema ambitions and deep pockets, there's no denying that projectors are just too cumbersome for many. Optoma's latest pocket-sized LED projector might promise great things for home entertainment in the long run, but for now this...

Portable, quiet, good connectivity

One hour battery life, low brightness, soft picture, poor user interface, all files must be converted

Last year's Pico PK101 had a paltry light output of 20 ANSI Lumens, and we'd wager that hasn't increased by much in this refreshed model. Built-in storage and a VGA input has been added, but there are problems with the user interface that do make this...

Colourful display capabilities and a built-in media player enhance the allure of the Optoma PK102, a tiny projector that's as easy to carry around as a mobile phone.
