Panasonic PT-AE1000U 1080p Video Projector

None of the projectors mentioned above are DLPs, which may be a story in itself. Panasonic's entry is a three-chip LCD design, and at an MSRP of $5,999, and "street prices" dipping below $4,000 (sometimes including a rebate on top of that), it's highly...

Panasonic PT-AE1000U 1080p Video Projector

The introduction of a 1080p projector for less than $5,000 would have been big news early last year. While that field is now getting increasingly crowded, with projectors from Sony, Mitsubishi, and JVC muscling in on the action, it's still big...

Ultimate AV: Panasonic PT-AE1000U 1080p Video Projector: Short Take

A few short months ago, the introduction of a 1080p projector for under $5,000 would have been big news. While that field is now getting crowded, with projectors from Sony, Mitsubishi, and JVC muscling in on the action, it's still a tale worth...

Panasonic PT-AE1000U projector

Panasonic hits it out of the park with the PT-AE1000U, a 1080p home theater projector that'll make you rethink your own eyesight.

So, without further hyperbole, I think you get the idea: 1000U = amazing image quality, particularly on high definition sources. Though the 1000U isn't inexpensive, it's one of the cheapest Full HD 1080p projectors on the market (street price around...

Panasonic PT-AE1000U

As is usual, the Panasonic, being LCD based, offers a tremendous amount of placement flexibility, even more than the other new LCD driven 1080p projectors, and far, far more versatility in this regard, then the DLP entries

Most affordable 1080p projector ; Beautiful, accurate picture out of the box ; Great flesh tones ; No pixel visibility at all (at anything resembling normal seating distance) ; Excellent black levels (within the limits of dynamic iris'es) ; Extremely...

Image is a bit soft with 1080 sources (due to Smooth Screen technology) ; Brightness is about average, the projector is therefore not ideal for larger screens (over 110" diagonal) or for handling more than very small amounts of ambient light for things...

I'd also like to recommend that you choose your screen wisely. Unless your room layout forbids it, the proper screen can make up for the merely average brightness of the Panasonic, so that, if it is your preference you can move up in screen size or...

Updated Review: Panasonic PT-AE1000U 1080p Home Theater Projector

Though the AE1000 can produce a bright picture, once it is calibrated for ideal cinema viewing it is not one of the brightest models on the market. Moreover, lumen output can vary greatly based on whether you use the wide angle or telephoto end of the...

The Panny AE1000 is unique among the 1080p competition. Assuming it is set up to deliver sufficient lumen output for the desired screen size, it is capable of producing a thoroughly engaging and competitive image from high definition sources, and a...
