Canon CanoScan 5600F

The Canon CanoScan 5600F offers high-quality scans for both prints and film at a very good price.

High-quality scans of both prints and film (slides and negatives). LED light source for reflective scans eliminates warm-up time.

Scans only four slides or one strip of film at a time. Dust and scratch removal feature does little for scratches.

Quality traditional CCD scanner from a good brand

I have only tested reflective documents via the TWAIN interface from within Windows XP. The Navigator EX application is only needed to have the buttons on the scanner respond. When scanning documents that approach the amount of available memory (which...

Stable LED light source that doesn't need warmup and recalibration. Power supply is embedded in the scanner itself for a compact setup. Compact software that occupies little space on disk and on screen; only the "driver" is needed for acquisition and...

No significant cons for this price range. No larger than 35 mm transparent documents (film) can be scanned. Dynamic range and resolution might not be sufficient for some negatives. The power supply makes tweeting noises when the switch is off; switch...

Great Scanner

I have used this scanner each and every day for over a year without problem. This may not be the most expensive but it is the best you can buy for the price.

So far it's smarter than I am

I spent several hours on my one day off setting up and attempting to learn how to use this scanner. I am not tech wizard AND did work as tech support once, so I can work with clearly explained directions. As tech support for this scanner is not...

Great Old School Technology

This scanner is great for those of us who prefer the old school scanner technology. It's a better product than many that are more expensive. Canon retains its good reputation.

Bulky

It is not fast as I believed. The 3200 was as quick however the dpi was lower. Also the glass surface for docs was longer and I was able to use longer (obviously) documents to scan. Why did they have to change a good thing for so-so interface? I would...

Good quality scan, as always from Canon.

I had a LIDE first and when it got obsolete due to windows newer ver. I bought the 3200F which was even better. However I recently broke the glass and thought about fixing but since it was old I decided to get a newer one which was on sale. After...

Better than the small handheld scanners

Does a good job with prints or slides, scans of negatives are overexposed and washed out. I bought 2 of these and the both do the same thing. Print scanner software is great and auto crops prints. The organizer software is clumsey and convoluted.

Good value

I bought this to do jobs where my all-in-one printer's scanner was inadequate. I'm scanning close to 1,000 old photos for a project and having scanned a couple hundred already I can say that it does indeed get the job done. This will scan several images...

Big Size but Excellent quality

Mind blowing scan quality, especially when you set the 4800DPI.

Did not install on Windows-7 even after downloading the correct x64 drivers. Had to install on my XP laptop. Size is very big and heavy, you don't get the idea looking at the photo.
