Canon CanoScan 8600F

The 8600F's claimed optical resolution of 4,800 pixels per inch is significantly higher than the 8400F's 3,200 ppi, and the actual ability to resolve detail—which is usually limited by a scanner's optics rather than its ppi rating—is improved as well....

Scans slides and strips of film. Comes with optical character recognition (OCR) and document-management software

Scans only four slides at a time. Tends to lose detail in bright areas

The Canon CanoScan 8600F delivers reasonable-quality scans for photographic prints and film—both slides and negatives. Its film-scanning features are limited, but appropriate for the price.

Canon CanoScan 8600F (4 mice)

Although it was a little slow to warm up, and its photo scans were a touch dark, the CanoScan 8600F proved to be a very good all-around scanner and should definitely be considered if you are looking for a high-quality photo and document scanner.

Built-in transparency adapter ; speedy scans ; very good scan quality

Slow to warm up ; photo scans a bit dark

There are seven handy task buttons on top of this silver and black flatbed scanner; these automate a number of tasks, such as scanning a document into PDF format, importing photos or slides into the image editor of your choosing, or scanning a document...

Canon CanoScan 8600F scanner

Canon's CanoScan 8600F is an attractive A4 scanner with built-in Film Adapter Unit, erm ... film scanning hood. The silver liveried scanner has a black strip across the top plate, a top plate that houses the FAU and seven EX Buttons, providing fast,...

Ease of use, optical resolution, FARE Level 3 processing, great scans, and software package

Slow on higher resolution scans that include the full FARE processing

Canon’s CanoScan 8600F produces excellent scans at a fair old clip until the application of lots of the FARE processing is applied, when things slow noticeably. But the results more than make up for any wait. This is a good scanner and one I can easily...

Canon CanoScan 8600F desktop photo and film scanner

For those who have yet to bring their older photos into the digital realm, the Canon CanoScan 8600F desktop photo and film scanner is definitely worth a look.

Although it was a little slow to warm up, and its photo scans were a touch dark, the Canon CanoScan 8600F proved to be a very good all-around scanner and should definitely be considered if you are looking for a high-quality photo and document...

Canon CanoScan 8600F

Canon's CanoScan 8600F is a scanner that provides high quality results at a great price and its software package is (almost) worth the price tag alone. Recommended.

Ease of use, price, optical resolution, FARE Level 3 processing, great scans and software package

Slow on higher resolution scans that include the full FARE processing

Canon CanoScan 8600F review

The CanoScan 8600F is a fully featured conventional photo, film and negative scanner.

Good quality scans, includes film scans, easy to use

Some waiting for the lamp to warm up

Not as cheap or as stylish as the CanoScan LIDE 600F, but more solidly built and is able to scan mounted slides too.

Recertified: Canon 8600F 4800 x 9600dpi 48bit USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Interface Flatbed Scanner

Quality film scanning at a dirty cheap price. Great bang for the buck.

Fairly quick scanning, Decent resolution options

Canons scanner software is clunky, random weird things like not scanning full negatives

NOT A DEAL......

I wish NewEgg took the time to tell me what I am recieving.. This my be my last Recertified anything I buy.....

Looks like it is quality mad much better than my old Epson.. Has Spring Loaded Top that stays open with out falling on your hands

Even though NewEgg say PhotoShop Elements v4 is included it is not.. The newest version is about $100 so I would say this older version is worth $50.. Thats the discount amount AND you only get a 90 day warranty not 365

Okay, just okay

Though it's not portable, it will do a quality job if you are scanning pictures, other images or documents as pictures.

Though I am unfamiliar with scanners, since I haven't used them much, I like this one for the price. It is easy to install and the software is very user friendly. The power switch is also in a good location and not behind the machine, where it could be...

This is my second scanner I have owned. The first was an HP all-in-one that I bought about four years ago. Therefore, I do not know much about scanners. I bought this scanner to put hundreds of pages from my military records onto my computer. This...

Another Try

This company has a good customer service and they are not responsible if Canon does not their homework to x-check refurbished items before delivery. So this is to blame Canon.

Easy setup, bargain priced, fair to good film scans

Package missed the 6x6 format negative holders, after only 5 35mm scans the upper lid with the light in it jammed so the light could not follow the full length of the strips anymore
