Canon CanoScan LiDE 100

When all-in-ones (AIOs) first started taking over from single-function inkjets in a big way several years ago, a lot of people predicted that flatbed scanners for home use would fade away. Instead, scanners have held their own, mostly by upping...

High-quality photo scans. Backlight correction. Color restore. Dust removal. Scan to searchable PDF format

Bundled software offers limited functionality. Relatively slow

The Canon CanoScan LiDE 100 is one of the few remaining scanners aimed at home users who are primarily interested in scanning photographic prints.

Little bugger just works and works.

Do yourself a favor and plug it directly to the actual computer and not to an USB hub, even if it's a powered USB hub.

Works like a charm. No A/C adapter to worry about

A Great Scanner!

I bought it to digitalize a bazillion of original documents for my thesis. There was an instance when I had to scan a 600page manuscript and was given only 2days for that. This thing scanned everything without complaining!

I am very satisfied with the piece! Very lightweight, compact, and uses only one USB cord both for power and data transfer. Makes decent images and what's more important for me - PDFs from scratch. Despite multiple comments about this scanner being...

Being picky here: 1) I wish the scanning speed was a little faster; 2) beware, it's all plastic! - which makes it very accident-sensitive; 3) the software is being "simplified" to the point when it gets too confusing; 4) the cord is quite short to make...

Canon CanoScan LiDE 100 2923B002 2400 x 4800dpi 48bit USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Interface Flatbed Scanner

Light weight, and doesn't take up too much desk space. Quality isn't as great but its not that bad either

The biggest issue I have with this scanner is that when it idles, it turns off. It might be good for people who turn their computers on and off but I leave my computer on all the time. After being idle, I have to unplug and replug the scanner which is...

Exactly what I wanted

Cheap portable scanner. It does exactly that :)

1) Portable - Pretty lightweight and thin and narrow. Similar to a laptop ; 2) USB Powered - Huge plus in my book ; 3) Fairly quick scans - I think a full letter size scan took me about 8-10 seconds? I'd say that's not bad for a small portable scanner :)

1) Software looks a little outdated but that's really a small con

works great

Used it to scan in over 400 photos from a family album. The photos turned out better than I had expected and scanning went quickly

It didn't load the photos for me

Hi-res and very portable

On Windows 7, install the driver, connect the scanner when it asks, then install the larger software download, then install the smaller...

Much quieter than my HP; needs no AC adapter. Scans quick and on high-resolution I get good detail. The slim body makes it perfect for any laptop user needing imaging on-the-go. Photoshop compatibility is good: the scanner is easily accessed and...

Windows 7 software not included; best installed if downloaded from Canon's site (they do include a 64-bit version). Software was a bit kludgy in that it had three separate installation pieces

ArcSoft PhotoStudio patch for Windows 7

Included software works on Windows 7 except PhotoStudio 5.5. To fix, do standard install (including PhotoStudio 5.5) from CD per Canon instructions, including restart and connect scanner etc. Then go to ArcSoft website > Downloads > Software...

Compact, inexpensive, easy to use, images are very clear and detailed

Scan speed is a bit slow, but not bothersome for someone who uses only occasionally

Fantastic grad school tool.

I'm a grad student and I have spent a fortune feeding the library copy machines. Not any more. This critter is light, quiet, and deals with any type of printed media I have thrown at it. Absolutely the best investment I have made for grad school. Paid...

1. USB powered. NO wallwart or powerbrick to lug around ; 2. Completely transportable ; 3. Perfect for scanning articles and chapters

If you are looking for something to make archival scans of rare photos.... this isn't the droid you're looking for
