Canon DR-M160 review

Resembling a small grey printer, the Canon DR-M160 doesn't perhaps look like a high-calibre document scanner costing close to £950. Look closer, however, and you see a design that improves considerably on that of Canon's much cheaper DR-C125.

The Canon DR-M160 comes with a relatively high price tag. And while it is a step up on the DR-C125, it may not offer enough of an improvement to justify the extra expense. The paper feed capacity isn't especially high, and that's a shame, since the...

Canon DR-M160 scanner review

The advent of all-in-one printers has seen a fall in demand for scanner-only devices, and you'd be forgiven for overlooking specialist models such as the Canon DR-M160.

Batch scanning, fast, durable, high quality images

Resource-hungry software, no Mac support

A high quality scanner that can handle batch input and is suitable for businesses that run daily scanning jobs. The DRM160 comes with heavy duty replaceable rollers to extend its life, but is let down by resource hungry software.

my 2 cents

I usually buy Fujitsu because the fi-6130Z and up come with a Full Version of Kofax VRS (4.5 or 5.0 depending on model). I really liked the specifications and had good luck with Canon DR-3060 and DR-3080CII scanners. I have been trying new options...

Scans Fast. Works with Kofax Capture 10. If you don't need Kofax VRS then it's a good buy

Bundled Kofax VSR is actually VRS Basic 4.5. VRS Basic noted in Overview but not in the Details. This is a new model and I expected VRS 5.0 (OEM) not VRS Elite the full version. VRS Basic 4.5 does not enable Auto Rotation or Blank Page Removal. In my...
