If you, like me, have always had a yen for a film scanner but couldn't justify the cost, this new EPSON product may change your mind. I can vouch that if you do decide to purchase one, you won't be disappointed. It's a splendid piece of work.

Very easy to set up; solid flatbed scan quality; great value.

Mediocre film scans.

As long as you don't need to scan film, this flatbed scanner should suit you fine.

The Perfection 4870 Photo produces results that are excellent for the price, and it comprehensively beats Microtek's ScanMaker 6100. It could be used for professional scanning at a pinch, but it's too slow for intensive use
