Canon CanoScan 5600F

Any flatbed scanner is technically suitable for all-purpose scanning, since you can scan anything on it. But some are clearly targeted more for some uses than others. A case in point is the Canon CanoScan 5600F ($149.99 direct), which focuses on...

High-quality scans of both prints and film (slides and negatives). LED light source for reflective scans eliminates warm-up time

Scans only four slides or one strip of film at a time. Dust and scratch removal feature does little for scratches

Although it's a bit slow and comes with little software, the Canon CanoScan 5600F offers lots of value thanks to its high-quality scans and low price.

Microtek - ScanMaker 5600

Unlike the majority of scanner manufacturers' products, which are heading towards ever slimmer and sleeker designs, this USB-connected ScanMaker 5600 is more chunky than most scanners of its type. That's partly because it's not aimed at ...

Although you can buy flatbed scanners for 50 or even less, these are really only suitable for home use. If you want something a little more capable, and with the option of automatic document feed and a transparency scanner, then the Microtek ScanMaker...

Big Size but Excellent quality

Had to buy this SATA burner due to my Gigabyte motherboard doesn't have IDE ports.

Mind blowing scan quality, especially when you set the 4800DPI

Did not install on Windows-7 even after downloading the correct x64 drivers. Had to install on my XP laptop. Size is very big and heavy, you don't get the idea looking at the photo

A Lot of Scanner for the Money

I was a little disaapointed with the way the scanner came packaged from Newegg. The scanner arrived in the manufacturer's box (not a problem) and box lid was not sealed in any way for shipment. In other words, if someone wanted to take something out...

I purchased this scanner to replace my Canon scanner that I purchased from Newegg eight years ago. My old scanner took a full minute to scan a single page at 150dpi, but this gem takes less than 10 seconds. I scan a lot of photos from magazines and...

None yet. Only gave this scanner four stars because I have only had it for one day and have not had a chance to fully explore it's potential

film scanning is for 35mm only

Good scanner for the money

Film scanner is for 35mm ONLY. The lighted top is a narrow strip, and not the entire top of the scanner lid. Avoid this model if you want to scan medium format negs/slides

Very Nice, Good Price

Major props to New Egg, I ordered this at 3:30 am Sunday and got it around noon Monday. I couldn't ask for faster delivery than that if they were to drive it down themselves. At $89, adding in the fact that shipping was free-I feel I got a great deal.

Installation is fast and simple enough. The software isn't too bulky, and it's very easy to use ; I opened the box, installed the software and drivers, and scanned my first picture in under 10 minutes ; Scan quality is very good so far. It reads pencil...

It seems as though one has to use the Cannon software that come bundled up with the scanner to get full use out of it

Good scanner

Make sure that PC has a good CPU and plenty of RAM. Processing a 300+ meg file can be taxing on system resources.

Scanner worked fine. Scanned in 35 mm negatives and slides @ 9600 dpi. Pictures came out very clear ; Regular scanning also worked as I hoped it would

None that I can think of

5600F Gets the job done. B+

Will do the job for professionals, even, but you might want to see if you can find one with a faster interface (USB 3.0?) and slightly improved software. Large footprint on your desk.

I didn't get this here, but I noticed it on sale and figured I'd leave a little review ; I've been using this for - wow, 2 years ; Scanned around 10,000 photos so far. No problems with the hardware ; Works on XP and Windows 7 x64 ; Nice Looking

Software is kind of great, kind of poor: It has all the features you need and then some, but my main gripe is that it doesn't remember certain preferences, like save location. So every time you save a batch of scans, you have to hunt down the folder...

Some very good some OK

Although bought elsewhere on a three day deal thought I would pass along my thoughts. On the pro side, good feel, pretty solid physical build to it. I scan a lot of one page documents off and on and that can be a pain with CCFL, and the warm up time....

For my particular use, the software is a pain as opposed to the old toolbox stuff. I scan documents that default to one encrypted drive and then clone the documents to a secondary encrypted drive with specific names, dates etc and that is where I find...

Great Scanner

Have owned other scanners, but will not mention brand names. The others cannot begin to compare with ease of operation and speed of this component. Highly Recommended !

Mac immediately recognized scanner and downloaded drivers. was scanning slides and old photos within 20 minutes of unpacking scanner ; Reproductions were flawless with no complications in iPhoto. Scanner operation is smooth and quiet. Quality built
