Receipt information is not truely searchable

Compact. I can bring it anywhere with my laptop

The reason I give 1 egg is, it does not serve the purpose that I bought it ; to search and print the receipt when I need it

Neat Receipts - neat idea

would recommend it to anyone. easy to set up and get started. great time saver.

fun, fast, convenient! easy way to get rid of all those piles of business cards and update, categorize and organize business address book. no more problems with fading receipts - easy to find and reorganize under preset categories or make up your own....

sometimes logos aren't read so you have to input some titles - on either receipts or business cards - easy to correct. just need to be patient and read the scanned data - but not a big issue

Very Buggy Software

The hardware product appears to well made. USB power is a real plus

Software would not install on XP with Service Pack 3. 158Mb download required. Installation process takes too long, and need to reboot is poor programming practice

Life got a little neater

Every receipt can now be found quickly and printed. Can import transactions into Quicken ; Scanner is small enough to take with me anywhere, and can be used to scan documents other than just receipts

Scanned text needs correcting occasionally, but very accurate overall

Neat Receipts! Makes my life easier!

Seriously, if you travel - or are just a paper receipt junkie like I am - this will make life so much easier - I have boxes of old papers and documents and will be ordering the NeatDesk next - plan on recycling a lot of shredded paper this winter...

The Scanalizing! I don't know how it does it, but it does it great. I use to spend hours doing my expenses reports (I'm a consultant who travels alot) spent more time correcting my reports, etc. The girl in the office hated me LOL - not any more - I...

Only one con - I wished they would include the travel case. I made my own out of a clear plastic tube - just so I would be a little stiffer in my back pack. As for the product it's self - no cons

Works as advertised.

The company changed its name from NeatReceipts to The Neat Company. They will be releasing a newer and faster scanner by the end of September 2008; however, it will cost you $400!! Ouch!! I will stick with the one I currently have since it is still...

Compact, easy to use, user friendly software. I primarily use it to scan business cards and store receipts. This scanner saves you a lot of fustration in case you lose your hard copy of your receipts or business cards or any other 8.5 x 11 document. I...

The scanner is slow when it comes to scanning. It is a little difficult to scan thermal type paper receipts. Otherwise, the software and scanner is pretty intuitive

CUts out the paper

The product does what's they say it will. I've been able to cut out a large chunk of my stored paperwork by scanning and saving receipts and important documents. While a plain scanner could accomplish similar goals, it is the organization and sear...

Scanner is a little slow and has no feeder, but image quality is good. Also, the software takes a little getting used to, but works well

Much Less than Outstanding

NeatReceipts should go buy copies of Quicken, Money, and any other REALLY popular personal accounting programs and give the options of interfacing with them in a more seemless manner. It would really be "neat" if I could modify outputs to closely match...

Small unit, Good OCR Capability

Unable to feed anything with an uneven top edge. Forgets company logos. Cannot split receipts into multiple entries, it actually makes multiple receipts. Extremely poor interface to Quicken. I view this as a failure on the part of NeatReceipts since...

Does what it says it does

Some of the major airports now have Kiosks where you can give the scanner and software a whirl.

This little scanner has done what it says it does. For me it chewed through one of those piles of expenses from a week on the road in under 30 minutes. Got over 90% of the classifications right the first time and after 'training' it 100%. Picked up...

Sensitive to feeding of thermal receipts if the leading edge is wrinkled. Like others have mentioned, Quickbooks/Quicken has a file format problem that has to be worked around but that is more of an Intuit problem than NeatReceipts

STAY AWAY - 2

Think that you are buying in fact a piece of poor piece of software with ... a toy to do the trick .... but it doesn't. If you give up the receipt recognition, cards recognition ... and you just want a little scanner along your notebook? forget it! buy...

None for what is advertized to do ... none, really, really, none

receipt recognition a haphazard ; recognition anything ... just a possible chance ; 32 bit software only ; charging for updates
