Honeywell RTH9585WF1004 Smart Color Thermostat review

The typical American home spends half of their energy costs on their heating and cooling, which can add up to more than $900 each year. A smart thermostat can reduce this cost by learning your temperature preferences and using other energy-saving...

Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat review: How does the Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat stack up against the popular Nest?

Thermostat giant Honeywell designed this Wi-Fi-enabled model in direct response to the innovative Nest Learning Thermostat created by Apple alumni Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers. Honeywell went so far as to file a lawsuit against Nest on February 6, 2012,...

Along with straightforward management software, the Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat quickly learns your energy usage habits and adapts accordingly.

Ease of installation will vary widely depending on your experience with wiring and the type of heating and cooling system you have.

Honeywell's Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat can compete directly with the Nest Learning Thermostat on features, but it doesn't match the Nest's intuitive design.

Honeywell WiFi Smart Color Review

The Honeywell WiFi Smart Color thermostat offers customizable background screen colors and convenient app control. Despite some drawbacks, such as a less responsive touchscreen and outdated app, its solid scheduling features and user-friendly interface...

Adjustable screen colors Comes with smart app

Touchscreen not responsive Setup and registration are tedious

Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart RTH9580WF Review

Overall, the Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat is a capable programmable thermostat. It has a simple onscreen interface, and its companion smartphone app is easy to use. However, it has a short warranty, and its automatic scheduling features are limited...

The Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat's touchscreen display makes it very easy to use.

This unit does not have motion sensors to trigger your HVAC system if you are home outside of your usual schedule.

The Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat looks good and has plenty of traditional energy-saving features to cut costs. Still, it’s missing some advanced features found on the best thermostats.

Cut but not worth the money

I installed this thermostat months ago. Seemed really cool, I guess! It works OK but the screen adjustments are useless! It;s to bright! If I wanted night in the hall I would buy one. I don't need Honeywell to create one for me that i can't turn down...

Works well

Ability to adjust screen is limited - TO BRIGHT

Slashed my energy bills, Works great.

This thermostat has worked flawlessly for me. Already I've been on vacation once having forgot to turn off the thermostat or set the handy vacation scheduler, and I was able to turn everything off from across the country. That's just awesome.

Custom colors match paint, vacation modes, extremely customizable, circulate feature for the fan

Utility usage stats would be nice, mounting plates to you dont have to paint uncovered portions of the wall would be nice.

Bought two of these, they have been working perfectly

All in all, a very good product... I would recommend this to anyone...

Lot's of options, and configurations

Could be a little easier to set up, but I think most are like this...

Frequent Wifi disconnections!

Upon reading about temperature variances, I bought a standalone thermostat and verified that honeywell's readings were accurate.

Very visually attractive, good feature set and impressive color palette.

Frequently disconnects from wifi. Upon disconnection, it seldom reconnects often requiring a manual selection of wifi access point and password re-entry.

Temperature Issues

Nice looking unit with built-in wireless and free app for phones. Unfortunately, the temperature reading on mine was 7 degrees off. I called Honeywell and they insist they are not aware of an issue even though several people have had the same problem...

Looks cool, built-in WiFi, remote app

The temperature readings are way off. Mine was 7 degrees off and the adjustment only allows +-3 degrees. Issues getting the outdoor weather info from the internet. Honeywell support seems to be in denial that an issue exists.

CONTROL

I now have control over the temperature in my home from anywhere. Ultimately controlling my electric bill as well.
