Jaybird Reign

The Jaybird Reign puts unique functionality into an all-day activity tracker and mobile app, but it ignores basic features that make fitness gadgets truly usable. For the price, you can do better.

Tracks steps, calories burned, activities, sleep. Recommends number of hours to sleep. Includes heart rate variability reading. Supports iOS and Android. High quality material and construction in the wristband. Fully waterproof.

Can't see trends over time. Doesn't track heart rate. No calorie-logging system. Rudimentary mobile app. No desktop or Web app. No integration with third-party apps. No real display; LED indicators difficult to read. Difficult to fasten. Sensor pops...

Activities and Data AccuracyOne of the Reign's signature features is that it will automatically detect a handful of activities: walking, running, sleeping, and a few others. You see the activities and data associated with them, like how long you ran...

Jaybird Reign review: in the ‘Go Zone’ of fitness wearables

At CES 2014, we named the Jaybird Reign our best wearable of the show. That wasn't because it was pretty, had a flashy screen, or even had some other hardware tweak we hadn't seen yet. Reign got our award based on their software, which promises a...

Jaybird Reign Review – Lightweight, simple, lacking

When it comes to fitness, I've never been one for trends or new lingo. It's cut and dry mathematics for me, quite honestly. If I want to lose weight, I burn more calories than I consume.

That set, and I reiterate this, if the convenience of not having to select activities and the super lightweight nature of the band attract you, the Reign could be your jam. It’s a bit pricey for those things, but it does them well.

Jaybird Reign fitness tracker review: Keeping you honest with heart rate variability

This $150 tracker tells you if you're actually ready for a hard workout.

Unique design that's comfortable and versatile; it comes with band extenders to get the best fit and a bike anklet to better track cycling. ; Activity goals based on your average activity level make it harder for you to remain stagnant with your daily...

Running and cycling carry more weight than other exercises and translate to more activity points than walking or other activities. ; Cannot add specific workouts through the app. ; Any confusing moves or unidentifiable exercises will be categorized...

I appreciate that Jaybird did something different with Reign. Yes, it tracks your daily activity and workouts. Yes, it automatically monitors nightly slumber. But its main job is to inform you of the state of your body using heart rate variability. You...

Jaybird Reign

The Jaybird Reign is one of the most interesting fitness bands on the market. Unlike competing wearables from Fitbit, Misfit and Moov, the Reign doesn't only track your performance: it also monitors the strain of workouts on your body by reading its...

A great idea that’s been poorly implemented.

Review: Jaybird Reign Fitness Tracker

While Jaybird is well known as a maker of sports and activity focused wireless headphones, their latest product, the Jaybird Reign is a stylish all-day activity tracker that serves as a ‘power-meter,' for your body.

If you need to set activity goals and want to understand how much your body is capable of achieving, the Jaybird Reign is worth checking out. Just don’t count on it for tracking activity on specific gym machines or for integrating with third-party...
