Samsung Galaxy Watch review: Safe but satisfying

Despite the change in branding, Samsung's latest smartwatch doesn't stray too far from the company's existing Gear formula. Great screen? Check. A rotating bezel to navigate through menus and Tizen apps? You bet. Workout tracking? You get where we're...

Handsome water-resistant design Great battery life Excellent OLED screen Mostly accurate sleep tracking

Bixby is a lousy assistant ; Workout tracking can be finicky ; S Health companion app needs work

Chris is Engadget's senior mobile editor and moonlights as a professional moment ruiner. His early years were spent taking apart Sega consoles and writing awful fan fiction. That passion for electronics and words would eventually lead him to covering...

Samsung Galaxy Watch review: A worthy Apple Watch alternative

While Samsung's Galaxy Watch may not be a huge leap over its Gear predecessors, it's a great-looking smartwatch with enhanced features and a better user experience.

Samsung's Galaxy Watch has an arguably superior design to Apple's Watch Series 4. Battery life is good, it's fully waterproof and you can get hundreds of watch faces for it. Samsung has improved its software and enhanced its fitness tracking. Spotify...

The Bixby voice-assistant could be better. Samsung has quashed some bugs but not all. To achieve Samsung's battery life numbers, you have to institute battery-saving measures.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch is a great looking smartwatch that beats the Apple Watch on battery life and its wide variety of custom watch faces.

Samsung Galaxy Watch

The attractive Samsung Galaxy Watch has better battery life and is easier to use than most smartwatches, but its fitness tracking features aren't up to par.

Lasts up to five days on a single charge. Crisp AMOLED screen. Rotating bezel. Accurate heart rate monitor. Resistant to dust and water.

Expensive. 46mm version is chunky. Fitness tracking accuracy not up to par in testing.

Bottom Line: The attractive Samsung Galaxy Watch has better battery life and is easier to use than most smartwatches, but its fitness tracking features aren't up to par.

Samsung Galaxy Watch review: iteration over innovation

The Galaxy Watch is a great smartwatch, but are wearables worth it?

Crisp, vibrant OLED display ; Battery lasts at least two days ; Activity tracking is kind of useful

BIxby / S Voice is terrible ; Not comfortable to wear to sleep

The Samsung Galaxy Watch is the latest wearable by the South Korean tech giant. It’s a breath of fresh air for Android phone owners who haven’t had access to a capable alternative to the Apple Watch Series 3. But even as the Galaxy Watch ups the ante...

Samsung Galaxy Watch Review: Just Right

The Samsung Galaxy Watch follows the tradition of the Galaxy Gear S smartwatch line with a new brand and a new outlook on life. The Galaxy Watch uses the newest version of Tizen to deliver a wrist-bound smart wearable device experience that's both...

Comfortable fit with standard strap ; Buttons and dial are easy (and fun) to use ; Classic yet current look and feel ; Automatic activity tracking is simple and helpful ; Tizen is smooth and ready for prime-time

Doesn't come in all-black ; Needs 4 apps to connect to non-Samsung Android ; Limited functionality with iPhone ; No MST for Samsung Pay (uses NFC instead)

Samsung Galaxy Watch Review

This review is based on our experience with the 42mm and 46mm, non-LTE Samsung Galaxy Watch models.

Beautiful display ; Tizen is fast and responsive ; Great battery life, especially on the 46mm model ; Convenient rotating bezel for navigation ; 5ATM water resistance ; Spotify integration with offline music storage

4GB of storage is a bit tight ; Not accurate with certain exercises ; Relatively thick and chunky ; Bixby leaves room for improvement

Samsung Galaxy Watch review: Fantastic hardware, full-featured activity tracking, and a terrible voice assistant Review | ZDNet

Samsung's been making smartwatches for years and the hardware of the Galaxy Watch is its best yet. The software still lacks key features such as a good voice assistant and mapping, but activity tracking and watch faces are plentiful.

Incredible design and quality construction ; Packed with fitness features ; Rotating bezel and UI is flawless ; Integrated music storage with Spotify support ; 2-3 day battery life when always-on watch face disabled

Average battery life when advanced features enabled ; Limited apps ; Bixby is simply terrible

Samsung Galaxy Watch Review: Get It for the Battery Life

With four days of battery life, an attractive design, great fitness features — and did we mention the battery life? — the Samsung Galaxy Watch was a step forward for smartwatches.

Stylish design ; Long battery life ; Good fitness features ; Built-in music storage

Few apps for Tizen ; Bixby far less capable than Google Assistant

iPhone owners should stick with the Apple Watch, as the integration is much more robust and seamless. But until Google (and others) come out with Wear OS watches that can go the distance with the Galaxy Watch, Samsung's wearable is the one to get.
