Consumer review (newegg.com)

Running Great for 5yrs now

Very Fast for 2010 and still pretty snappy in 2015. Just pulled it from my old laptop and putting in another faster latop that had a 5400rpm HD in it. Bought it back to life

Old out of date. Much faster options now but if you can get this allot cheaper then it will not disappoint

Good for the price at the time

Ran well for almost two years. Decent performance, best price for capacity at the time

Died at about two years

Crucial Sucks

Mine failed on the last day of warranty (30 days - refurb). All Crucial will do for me is send me out another (probably defective) M225 refurb which will have -0- days warranty. Crucial screws their customers, I will never buy Crucial again. I hope...

It's an SSD

Defective design, extremely high failure rate, Crucial screws customers

Dead after a year

Fast, like all ssd's

As noted, dead after a year, this may be the norm for SSD's but after reading other reviews, I will live by the backup

Nice SSD

It is on par with what an ssd should do, improved boot time and performance considerably from 2x seagate 500gb raid0 setup. All Apps and games load and run much faster. I personally haven't been able to tell the difference in speeds between this and...

Nice average SSD. It was on sale and was cheapest 256Gb drive when I got it. Win7 rating of 7.3, HD Tune avg read speed of 215-225MB/S. Win7 load time aprox 15-20 mins. Boot time is about 35-40 seconds avg. from pwr up on evga classified 3x, with both...

Kinda wish it came with mounting screws or velcro considering the price

Sweet

Had to RMA the first one I got, but the replacement came fast and has been working ever since.

Speedy, great price, low heat

Not quite as fast as claimed in real use but still amazing

Yes Fast but not worth the Headache

We've used these with both XP and Window 7 and they have failed on both OS's. Failed using PGP Encryption and Bit Blocker with Windows 7 -- Failed. All firmware was latest version and continued to use the Trim Util. It may be Encryption software, but...

Yes they are fast. Even faster with Encryption slowing them down a bit

DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! Headache! We orginally ordered 7 drives for our developer laptops. They worked great for about 2 months. Then we had two completely die. RMA'd and updated frimware. Made sure we were using the trim util. Then three others died. Two we...

SSD TRIM

SSDs life-cycle is measured in "endurance" not in MTBF [mean time before failure]. The industry has yet to agree on a measure for endurance; therefore DO NOT run a Defrag program on an SSD drive, use the TRIM util to keep it "fresh". If you plan on...

Fast. I use it with my Tradestation and Ninjatrader PC to trade futures

Remember that SSDs need periodic ATA TRIM utility run on them. Crucial has a Trim utility. Download it and run it once a week. Also run the latest firmware updates on the SSD firmware as soon as you buy a new drive

great for few days

Had to upgrade the flash in the drive but it was pretty seemless.

wicked fast ; easy to install

failed by corrupting files, then would freeze my sata controller at boot cause it would respond til power cycled a few times ; Other con is the amount of time it takes to do an RMA with newegg.. I'll update this review once I get the new unit

Great...while it lasted

Word of advice to those thinking of using ANY SSD for any brand, make sure you are backing up your data continually. SSDs are still relatively new and things like this can happen. I'm not giving up on using SSDs, just going to be smarter about how I...

Fast, cool, quiet

The pro's don't out weight the cons when you buy an SSD expecting to get a few years of life from it anyway. Purchased it in Sept of 09 and it died Jan of '10. Not to terribly impressed with "The Memory Experts
