Update to my prior review

I'm an early adopter and I work in the technology field - I'm an advanced user. If you are a novice user, stick with the proven HDDs for right now. These devices need to get better before they are ready for prime time. The expense and the reliability...

Speed - after more experience with this drive and the issue I experienced in the Cons section, below, there is definitely a performance increase with an SSD, although I stand by my last review that the speed increase is really not good enough to...

Cost. Reliability. My SSD failed in mid March after a couple of weeks of flaky issues. It started with a weird sleep recovery where the machine crashed and then went through a CHKDSK. After that my Windows installation was corrupted and I had to...

Died after 8 months

Haven't had any problems with Corsair or OCZ drives, which I've had just as long or longer.

Fast

Died after 8 months. Came in to work Monday morning, drive was dead

Drives failing on me

I am packaging and hoping the warranty will replace them. I will update review after warranty experience if I am allowed to do so.

Reasonably fast drive for SSD, However I have a super talent SSD that I find is still faster after having it for over six months use. I'm a developer that uses laptop all day (average 10 working hours) everyday

I ordered two of these drives at the same time. One for primary and other for data drive. The primary drive failed and is now not responding to recover data off of consistently. Purchased drive 11/02/2009 and it failed on 2/21/2010. This week 3/1/2010...

Big Mistake

Not getting this drive again. Not sure if it's just the brand or what but when two out of two drives that are suppose to be reliable for ~150 years die in 1 week - 1 month, something is seriously wrong.

It's fast, I'll give it that. For the price it's a good size of storage

Unreliable. First drive was dead and bios wouldn't even see it after only one week. Newegg was very good about RMA and I had another in less than a week, this one lasted 4 times as long, that is one month and a week... Once again newegg was great and...

Stop! Don't do it!

I have spent allot of time and money and realize the error of my ways. I want to spend the additional money to get a different (other brand) drive but there is no one from Newegg that I can speak to that can help with this solution.

I bought this model because the specs were close and the price was much better than the (other brand) drives I bought recently. The (other brand) drives are fast and reliable

The first drive received failed while trying to install an operating system (write errors). I tried changing hardware, and different operating systems. The error was the same each time. NewEgg replaced that drive, the second drive I received was DOA....

Not nearly as speedy as I expected

Knowing what I know now, I probably would have opted to save some money, buy a regular HDD for the time being and wait for this technology to mature a bit more. I don't think the slight gains in performance that I have noticed are worth the extra $500.

I have been able to turn off drive intensive, performance slowing services like indexing, prefetch, defrag, etc. Less drive activity overall as a result ; The drive is lighter than the 7200 rpm Hitachi drive that I took out, but that weight difference...

Price vs. performance. Yes, there are some performance gains, but they are not as noticeable as I expected for a drive that costs nearly $500 more than a similar capacity 7200 rpm hard drive

Read errors?

Stored 150GB of DBS index files on SSD. Written once, but read hundreds or thousands of times each day. Had second copy stored on regular hard disk. Problems cropped up on DBS search so I compared using 'fc /B FileA FileB' and found 8 to 32 bytes...

Comparatively cheap

Might be getting small read errors. Only got 150 Mbyte/sec in RAID0 using new Intel ICH9 set up on Mobo. Not as fast as I thought it would be. We may have a bad disk. Will report findings after more testing

Half Good/Half Bad

Still waiting on my replacement drive. Hope it works this time. I would give this drive a 4 or 5 rating if it wasn't for the fact that I can't seem to get a second drive to last more than a few hours.

I purchased 2 of these drives intending to stripe them in a RAID. One drive worked great and is still performing flawlessly as a non raid system drive. The second drive is a different issue (See Cons). The working drive is very fast compared to my...

The second of two drives ordered only lasted about 3 hours and died. I ordered another replacement drive and was able to initialize the drive in Windows 7 and then let it run unformatted for about two hours with no other activity to the drive and it...

Fastest I've ever had

I was a bit worried going with a brand that I didn't recognize in the HD space. They are obviously re badged from another OEM, I just don't know which one.

Blazing speed - I have 2 of these in raid0. Using hdtach, I'm not quite double the rated speeds, but I'm darn close. pushing 400MB/S read speeds ; Extremely stable. Recognized upon install, and I've never worried about them since. No issues - NONE

price - although had it *really* been a con, I wouldn't have purchased them ; The only real issue I had was two of these don't fit in any standard bay in my tower computer. I had to get a little creative with some tape to keep them where I wanted them

Great item

I will be buying 7 more of these and I will be replacing the drives in my desktop. Replacing my standard SATA drives with these Solid State Drives should keep my system going for years due to the unlikeliness of a hard drive failure happening. My...

Works great. I am currently using it as a backup for my desktop. The drive runs cool, and read and write are very good. I bought this drive to replace a failing drive in my wife's desktop, but her computer is so old it wouldn't recognize the drive....

None so far
