Kingston HyperX 120GB (SH100S3-120G) Review

Earlier, we had a look at Kingston's V+ 200 SSD which offered decent performance but for that price, you were better off with their HyperX series. Today,

Kingston has priced the HyperX SSD 120GB at Rs.13,999 but you can find it in stores for as low as Rs.12,900. This makes it about Rs.3,000 more expensive than the SSDNow V+ 200 90GB but for this, you get more storage capacity and a much, much faster...

junk disk

fast when working

Too many Crashes, for the price of this new technology. Random times get unexpected system crashes, then system reboots after blue screen, BIOS prompt "no physical disk" error. Need to hold shutdown for seconds, then turn on the computer again and...

Great Drive

Absolutely no stability problems- even better than many Intel drives which are supposed to be more reliable. Much less negative feedback than OCZ drives. I had never considered Kingston as an option in the SSD space, but I saw this on sale and now that...

Extremely fast- as fast as the fastest drives out there in terms of read speeds ; Absolutely no stability problems whatsoever in over two months of running with the latest (332) firmware

Many drives around this capacity are 128GB. Could have used the extra 8GB I guess

Great performance drive

Make sure you tweak Windows 7 for more HD space by getting rid of your hibernate file, moving your Windows index file to a platter drive, and reducing your page file size. Formatted with those tweaks got me about 112GB out of 120GB. SWTOR, no matter...

I use Windows 7 64bit , and I did have to flash the drive with the latest firmware in order for the OS to properly detect the SSD and install it. Before that I had some issues getting it to properly format the drive in the computer manager even though...

None that would prevent me from getting another one of these drives. The price did go up $10 since I ordered it a few days ago, and personally the knick-knacks included in the bundle are kind of useless to me. If you can, just go for the bare drive and...

Complete Package

Using as a boot drive in a Bulldozer (FX 8150) build with an ASUS 990 Crosshair MB. Absolutely no issues, no firmware update needed, board recognized it as AHCI, no BSODs as with other brands, no problems. Rebate arrived timely. Very pleased.

Works right out of the box ; Fully loaded with adapter tray, case for your old drive, software and screwdriver ; Build Quality Seems Fine

A+ SSD

This is not being fully utilized by my current computer but I can still see if you have a high end gaming rig this will not slow you down at all.

I did not have any of the BSOD's that people were complaining about ; This drive is extremely fast compared to my 7.2k drive

none, other than paying the premium price for an ssd

Amazing Speeds

An interesting feature that Kingston doesn't advertise is that it is a hardware level encrypted drive. It double encrypts the data using AES-256. Securely wiping the drive, that would pass DoD high level wipe requirements, takes seconds not days...
