Samsung Portable SSD T3

The pricey Samsung Portable SSD T3 is one of the fastest portable drives we've tested. It's an ideal choice if you need lots of speedy storage in a box about the size of a deck of cards.

Speedy performance. USB-C port. Mac, Windows PC, and Android compatible. Drop tested to 6 feet. Three-year warranty.

Pricey. USB-C-to-USB-C cable not included.

Conclusion The Samsung Portable SSD T3 is an excellent choice if you need to carry or copy a library's worth of data in a device that will fit in your front pants pocket. It is certainly pricey, but if you're a power user, you will want nothing less,...

Samsung T3 review: This 'USB 3.1' SSD is stupidly fast

The new Samsung T3 and its predecessor, the T1, are the handiest and fastest USB SSDs on the market. Indeed, the T1 I've been using for the last year or so has saved me so much time moving data from PC to PC and installing software, I don't know what...

Multiples faster than the average USB thumb or hard drive ; Roughly on par with the price of internal SSDs ; Type C, USB 3.1

Nothing to speak of

Quite frankly, the best portable storage product on the planet. Far faster than the average USB 3.x thumb drive, not that expensive (for an SSD), and available in capacities up 2TB—it's the one you want. At least until the USB SuperSpeed+, Gen 2...

Samsung Portable SSD T3 review: A future-proof portable drive

With support for USB-C and the new 2TB capacity, the Portable SSD T3 is the ultimate portable storage device -- if you can afford it.

The Portable SSD T3 is super compact, rugged, fast and can have up to 2TB of storage space. The drive has a USB-C port, allowing it to work with more devices than other portable drives.

The T3 is a tad larger and slightly slower than its predecessor, the T1, while costing more. Its three-year warranty is short for a storage device at this price.

Compact, rugged, fast and capacious, the Portable SSD T3 is an excellent portable storage device to take on the go.

Samsung Portable SSD T3 Review

The last few years have seen rapid advancements in flash technology including planar 1x nm NAND, TLC, and 3D V-NAND. External high-speed interfaces such as USB 3.x have also become ubiquitous. The advent of Type-C has also enabled device vendors to...

Other than the above aspects, there is really nothing much to complain about the T3. The thermal characteristics are excellent (way better than that of the T1). There are plenty of thermal pads protecting the flash packages. The construction of the...

Samsung SSD T3 Review : USB-C drive in a tiny metal package

We'd been on the lookout for a handy companion for our USB-C-toting smartphones and laptops and - what do you know? Samsung busts one out. This is the Samsung SSD T3 with USB-C, working with the same controllers and flash used in Samsung's 2.5-inch...

Samsung Portable SSD T3 Review

For creators and people who need fast portable storage typical USB flash drives just will not cut it. For those of us who need serious speed in a small portable

– Extremely small size ; – Solid design ; – Great performance ; – AES 256-bit hardware encryption ; – Available in capacities up to 2 TB. ; – 3 year warranty

– A USB Type-C to Type-C cable should be included

As of writing the is the smallest portable solid state drive available in a capacity of up to 2TB. SanDisk’s Extreme 510 drives are around the same size, but are only available in capacities of up to 480 GB. So if you are looking for the highest...

Samsung Portable SSD T3 - A portable HDD for speed freaks

The Portable SSD T3 is Samsung's latest portable SSD drive and is now more capacious than ever, offering up to 2TB of storage. How fast is it? And how does this model improve on last year's? Read on to find out.

Now available in 2TB ; Good performance ; Compact and light ; Easy to setup on PCs and Macs ; Support for Android devices ; 256-bit AES encryption and password protection

Pricey ; Only USB 3.1 Gen 1 ; Clumsy USB cable ; No ability to reset password personally

But if speed, portability, capacity, and security are high on your list of needs, then it's hard to go wrong with the Samsung portable SSD T3.

Samsung Portable SSD T3 Review

Samsung is wasting no time putting its 48-layer V-NAND to use. Two products based on the flash are now shipping. First up is a 15.36TB monster in a 2.5-inch form factor with SAS connectivity. To reach that capacity, the company used 512 of the new...

The new Portable SSD T3 with a metal structure makes the drive very sturdy and less susceptible to damage. The performance is very good, compared with most mechanical, platter-based products sold today

The price is the obvious problem for most users, and we really hoped this series would see a major cost reduction. Real-world file transfer performance is lower than we expected from a product with superior synthetic performance

The Samsung Portable SSD T3 offers good looks and high performance in a compact size. Samsung didn't have a problem adding an awesome product tax when we wanted to see a better value for consumers. In time, the price will come down and that will make...
