SanDisk Extreme II 480GB SSD

The SanDisk Extreme II 480GB SSD internal solid-state drive is a great opening volley into the high-end consumer market.

Excellent price/performance ratio for under $1 per GB.

There are significantly cheaper drives for customers willing to trade performance for value.

Now, there's nothing wrong with buying a lower-end budget SSD because you value storage space over speed and want a drive that provides more of the former while maintaining many of the benefits of the latter . But we suggest evaluating the Sandisk...

SanDisk Extreme II review

The SanDisk Extreme II solid-state drive (SSD) has a lot more going for it than just being 2.5mm thinner than the previous SanDisk Extreme .

The SanDisk Extreme II offers faster performance, is now available in a 7mm design, and has a friendly price tag.

There's no desktop drive bay converter or other accessories included.

The SanDisk Extreme II is a speedy replacement for any hard drive, and it won't dig a big hole in your wallet.

SanDisk Extreme II Review (480GB, 240GB, 120GB)

A few weeks ago I mentioned on twitter that I had a new favorite SSD. This is that SSD, and surprisingly enough, it's made by SanDisk.

Assuming there are no strange compatibility issues or firmware problems that develop, the Extreme II will likely become one of my most recommended SSDs. Far too often I have to supply the caveat of "make sure you don't fill the drive!" whenever I...

SanDisk Extreme II 480GB SSD Review

The last time we saw the SanDisk Extreme SSD it wasn't exactly “extreme.” It was a fine drive and all, and we awarded it a “what a nice boy” verdict of 8 because it was decent, but it didn't blow off our anti-static leashes or anything. The problem was...

SanDisk Extreme II 240GB Solid State Drive

In the car world, there are words or letters manufacturers append to standard model names to indicate something better. Honda has Type-R, Mercedes-Benz has AMG, BMW has M, Dodge has SRT, Chevrolet has SS; the list goes on. Actually, many marques share...

SanDisk Extreme II SSD 240GB Review

The Extreme II delivered similar performance to the Vertex 450 throughout our benchmarks. Custom file transfer tests definitely favored the former by a tad, but the margins were thin enough that it's hard to name a clear winner and although the Extreme...

SanDisk Extreme II SSD Review (240GB) – SanDisk Finds That Sweet Spot and Hits a Home Run

The SanDisk Extreme II SSD has shown some of the best test results we have seen to date and they have been consistent.  In examining PCMark Vantage alone, surpassing that 70,000 point plateau is hard enough, but scoring between the Samsung Pro and OCZ...

SanDisk Extreme II 120 - 240 and 480 GB SSD review

SanDisk manages to make a fashionably enticing entrance with the Extreme II series SSDs. These little critters are fast, SERIOUSLY fast. Even the 120GB models will easily pass 500 MB/sec in most scenarios in read performance. Where the SSD series shows...
