Intel's X25-E SSD runs circles around rival drives

The 64GB SSD boasts impressive I/O performance, stability and reliability

While few people would shell out $800 for a laptop drive, it's always important to keep an eye on the top of the technology heap. Other SSD drives may not hit the speeds of the X25-E, but the technology shows what SSDs could be delivering down the...

Intel's X25-E SSD Walks All Over The Competition

Intel's new X25-E professional flash SSD is a rocket when it comes to fast I/O performance. Is Intel now the source of the best server drive? We ...

We compared it to the X25-M, a Samsung 64 GB mainstream flash SSD, server SSDs from Mtron and Memoright, and the two fastest 15,000 RPM hard drives you can get: the Hitachi Ultrastar 15K450, and Seagate's Cheetah 15K.6

A look at four X25-E Extreme SSDs in RAID

Intel's X25-E Extreme SSD is far and away the fastest flash drive we've ever tested. Sure, it only packs 32GB of storage, and yes, you'll pay a princely sum for the privilege. But with a smart storage controller, near-instantaneous seek times, and...

Although the recent wave of solid-state hard drives that's flooded the market primarily targets mobile applications, SSDs aren't quite ready to replace their mechanical counterparts for most users. The price is simply too high at the moment, not only...

Intel's X25-E SSD runs circles around rivals

The 64GB SSD boasts impressive I/O performance, stability and reliability

Again, like STEC Inc.'s flagship Zeus or Micron Technology Inc.'s RealSSD P200 SSD drives, Intel's X25-E is positioned for the datacentre, where it can replace multiple, 15,000-rpm Fibre Channel drives to offer storage administrators better performance...

Intel X25-E 32GB SSD

SSDs might be able to deliver blistering read speeds, but they tend to fall down when it comes to write. Not so the Intel X25-E, which claims both blistering fast read and write speeds thanks to the use of SLC NAND flash memory. We find out if Intel's...

Spend Your Money on a HDD

If you need to flash the firmware do so first, because it erases the drive (from what I read; but mine came with firmware actually newer than what was available on the Intel support website). Since I have an AMD board, the Intel tools do not work. And...

SLC rather than MLC. Still a 7.7 user experience in Windows

Does NOT support TRIM (which means it will degrade over time). Not that you can find that info easily on Intel.com. Also, only SATA II (3gb) not the new SATAIII (6 Gb). No cable or instructions or anything in the box. NOT RETURNABLE

Too Small for Windows 7

All user-data, all VM's, Office, large program-installs, games, files, media, music etc is NOT on the OS drive. It is all loaded on a 2tb (4x500gb raid 0) 'drive'. Even with these changes/modifications to the standard operation(s) of Windows, 32(29)GB...

You already know

Due to Windows winsxs file duplication within the OS, you will not have ANY room on this drive after 1 or 2 years ; The 'basic' OS load and normal day-2-day applications are too much for a 32GB drive on Windows 7
