2nd try, so far, so good

 

My first one was DOA, but Newegg RMA'd it fast. 2nd one is now installed in a Smoothwall firewall and is so far working very quietly

Transcend TS8GSSD25-S 2.5" 8GB PATA SLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Retail

 

Installed in an old Pentium III-M Thinkpad. It now boots Windows XP to the desktop in 7-8 seconds. I used nLite to optimize the XP install and I would recommend this if using XP.

Great to have a drop-in SSD replacement for PATA laptop hard drives. Fast. Much less time waiting for disk I/O

Only 8GB of space, and expensive for that

Great for old Thinkpad R50

 

Should have gotten the 16GB instead.

Fast, quiet. Installed XP on my Thinkpad R50. Now fastest amount my other other Thinkpads T60 and T61
