Bose SoundDock review

We had high expections (okay, maybe not) when we heard about the Bose SoundDock, yet another speaker system for iPods (save the first and second gen models) and iPod minis that also charges your player. CNET rather likes the player, though; it filled...

Bose SoundDock 10 review: Bose SoundDock 10

Bose SoundDock 10

Really good sound from a compact, single-speaker; classy, minimalist styling; plays loud without distorting, and fills a large room; simple to operate; interchangeable dock system; composite video output/line input; GSM shielded for iPhones.

Expensive; optional Bluetooth dock accessory works well but is $150 extra; no radio; you can't charge your iPod/iPhone when using the Bluetooth accessory; video-out limited to low-res composite connection.

While it's expensive and isn't loaded with features, the Bose SoundDock 10 is classy looking and sounds excellent for a compact iPod/iPhone speaker.

Bose SoundDock 10 Digital Music System

The SoundDock 10 iPod speaker system sounds stellar, but for $600, you should get a lot more.

Clean Design. Extremely powerful. Deep bass delivery with virtually no distortion. Crisp musical response. Video output.

Overpriced. Remote control lacks full iPod navigation. No buttons on dock itself—all controls are on the remote. Composite video cable not included.

Bose does iPod

Bose's SoundDock, an elegant speaker that turns your iPod into a boombox, represents the company's entry into the ever popular iPod-accessory arena. Does it deliver?

The Bose SoundDock is simple to set up and use: attractive design; sounds good compared to other iPod speakers; charges iPod while docked; includes basic remote.

Expensive; works only with iPods (and iPod Minis) equipped with a docking connector.

If you don't mind the high price and lack of an auxiliary input, the Bose SoundDock will turn your iPod into a nice bedroom or office stereo system.

Review: Bose SoundDock 10

Though we have a lot more to say about this system, and the full answer is complex, the short version is a somewhat tepid "sure." With SoundDock 10, Bose doesn't offer a better $600 audio experience than either of its peer-priced rivals, and like...

As noted at the start of this review, SoundDock 10 really sits on the edge of our general (B) and limited (B-) recommendations-we're not part of the Bose hype wagon, so when we drop $600 on a speaker system, we expect a lot more for the money than a...

Bose SoundDock 10 for the iPod

Bose has stepped up its range of iPod docks with the revelation of the killer new SoundDock10 for the iPod and the iPhone. Measuring just 17 x 9 x 10 inches, the dock is made up of a custom subwoofer and a couple of Bose Twiddler transducers. Other...

Bose SoundDock

Let's get one thing straight: these aren't the kind of speakers you throw in your tote or suitcase for travel. If that's your bag, check out offerings such as Altec Lansing's inMotion iM3 or imMini portable speakers. The SoundDock measures nearly a...

Great sound, very good 3D separation for a system this small. Excellent volume that doesn't distort. Sound is never harsh and bass is clear. Works with all iPods except the Shuffle and charges your iPod too. Remote has good range. Easy to move from...

EQ and compression not perfect for classical music, consider the Klipsch iGroove instead or the Altec Lansing inMotion iM7. No 3.5mm jack to use speakers with other portable audio devices. Must be plugged into AC, can't use batteries

Great sound from a relatively small system. Music sound is always pleasing with a surprising overall richness. The Bose have good bass and the highs are strong, though a tad under-emphasized. The SoundDock Digital Music System is definitely good enough...

Bose SoundDock

iPod speaker system lacks features but offers impressive sound quality for its size.

Great sound for the size, easy to set up and use, useful remote control

Can't sync with your Mac when docked, no auxiliary input, works only with dockable iPods, expensive

As the market for Apple's iPod-and thus iPod accessories-has exploded, some of the biggest names in computer and home audio have responded with speaker systems specifically made for the iPod (and, just as significantly, incompatible with other portable...

If you're look at Bose at all, you'll probably be paying a little more. Is it worth it? Yes, if you are into ease of use and high quality sound (even at high volumes), it's a simple choice. It probably would not be a system to plan on taking camping...

It's a beautiful system. High fidelity sound. easy compatibility with both iPhone/iPod and even Blackberry. Connect wirelessly using Bluetooth. Easy to use

Can't control volume using the iPhone while connected to Bluetooth (have to use remote control). A little heavy to lift
