Boston Acoustics Horizon i-DS2 review

With iPod docks becoming more common in everything from PC speakers and TVs to home theater systems, it's becoming quite rare to find an iPod speaker system that just plays music from the iPod--no bells or whistles like a radio or alarm clock. And...

Solid-sounding iPod speaker; doubles as a syncing dock; replaceable speaker grille; includes remote.

No clock, alarm, or AM/FM radio; expensive, considering its barebones feature list.

While the Boston Acoustics Horizon i-DS2 packs a punch, other iPod speakers will deliver you a better bang for your buck.

Review: Boston Acoustics iDS2

Now Boston Acoustics has released a sequel of sorts called the iDS2 ($180), which could either be understood as a stripped-down version of the Duo-i, or as a different type of product altogether. Though they differ slightly in size-iDS2 measures 5.5"...

Our major concern with the iDS2, and the one that most impacted its rating, is its price relative to other options. As just one example, no matter where you look online, the Horizon Duo-i can be found for $200 or less-in many cases, as much as $50-70...

i-DS2 review

The Boston Acoustics i-DS2 is a handsome unit, and despite it's small footprint pumps out a terrific sound.

Great sound quality considering the size of the unit, smart design

Expensive considering the lack of frills

The i-DS2 offers basic features considering the £140 price tag. Controls are sparse, and aside from the video output it’s just a speaker for your iPod, with no frills at all. However, you’re paying for the great sound quality, and while you may want a...
