JBL OnBeat Xtreme review

If you're looking to throw down some coin on a Bluetooth-enabled dock, this bad boy delivers superb sound quality and no-fuss connectivity.

JBL OnBeat Xtreme

A top performer, the JBL OnBeat Xtreme is a very powerful wireless Bluetooth streaming speaker system with the ability to dock, charge, and sync iPads, iPods, and iPhones.

Streams audio wirelessly via Bluetooth. Strong audio performance. Powerful bass response with no distortion at high volumes. Docks iPad in vertical or horizontal mode—also docks iPods and iPhone. Acts as a speakerphone for incoming calls on iPhone....

Expensive. Visual design isn't for everyone. EQ settings are unnecessary, can't be turned off.

JBL OnBeat Xtreme

The ; offers excellent performance for an iPhone/iPad speaker dock, with detailed sound and good, tight bass that can fill a fairly large room. It also has built-in Bluetooth for wireless streaming, speakerphone capabilities, a video output, an RF...

At $500, it costs as much as an iPad. The eye-catching design may not appeal to some people.

While it's on the expensive side, JBL's OnBeat Xtreme is one of the best-sounding iPhone/iPad docks we've heard--and it has built-in Bluetooth and speakerphone capabilities.

JBL OnBeat Xtreme

The Onbeat Xtreme offers exceptional sound quality, but it's not for everyone, especially those with multiple iOS devices or who want AirPlay instead of Bluetooth.

Though the OnBeat Extreme includes Bluetooth audio (more on that in a bit), it also includes a traditional 30-pin dock cradle. In order to be all things to all i-Devices, the Xtreme ships with a pair of adapter clips for that cradle. One clip fits...

Reviews: JBL OnBeat Xtreme Bluetooth Speaker Dock

Yes, there’s something kitschy about the 1990’s-style “xtreme!” name, but OnBeat Xtreme is otherwise a sophisticated evolution of JBL’s earlier iPod and iPhone audio systems, with enough extra polish and class to match its...

Thankfully, that flaw won’t matter to most of the people who will be considering an OnBeat Xtreme purchase. There’s little question that OnBeat Xtreme is otherwise a big winner for JBL and for iOS users: this is one of the best sounding speakers yet...

JBL OnBeat Xtreme

A fun-looking, fun-sounding dock that?s worth every penny of its asking price

Sounds great; lovely design and build; feature packed; wireless works well

Midrange can become hard at high volumes; flimsy device clamps

JBL OnBeat Xtreme review

The JBL OnBeat Xtreme sets itself apart from other similar iPod, iPhone and iPad speaker docks by not only by sporting a much heavier price-tag but by also providing excellent audio performance.

The JBL OnBeat Xtreme is available in the UK for around £399. It's definitely expensive but if you want a be-all end-all audio output solution for your iDevices, then you can't go wrong with the OnBeat Xtreme.
