JBL Xtreme

The JBL Xtreme lives up to its name—it's easily one of the most powerful portable Bluetooth speakers we've tested.

Exceptionally powerful audio with big bass and bright highs. Built-in speakerphone. Splash-proof. Can pair with three devices at once.

Plenty of digital signal processing—especially at top volumes.

Performance and Conclusions On tracks with powerful sub-bass content, like The Knife's "Silent Shout," the Xtreme delivers, well, extreme bass response. This is probably the most intense bass we've heard from a portable Bluetooth speaker, other than...

JBL Xtreme Review: Big Sound With A Punch

Portable Bluetooth speakers are pretty commonplace these days. They range in price from $20 all the way to hundreds of dollars. It can be tough to choose which one to buy, and it's hard to tell just what sets a speaker and company apart. Our latest...

Design, sound, battery life

Bit pricey but you really do get what you pay for

JBL Xtreme review: Big sound with a punch

Our latest Bluetooth speaker review takes a look at one of JBL's newest. Find out just how it compares to the competition in our JBL Xtreme review.

Design, sound, battery life.

Bit pricey but you really do get what you pay for.

There’s no mistaking why JBL dubbed this speaker the Xtreme. It looks great, packs a punch, has great battery life, can recharge your devices, and can even survive the beach, poolside, or slightly rainy day. If you’re in the market for a Bluetooth...

The Xtreme BT Speaker by JBL

JBL really surprised me when they asked me to take a listen to their new Xtreme BT speaker. It is funny…reviewing this speaker really swindled me right back to a decade ago, back when I was a speakerphile and just before my foray into the headphone world.

Look, BT is the future for us and I think JBL did a good job with this speaker. It isn’t meant for critical listeners and it is clearly intended to be toted around in college dorms, between party locations and used for all purpose listening. It does...

JBL Extreme Review – Sure To Be The Life Of The Party

JBL's Extreme Speaker is not just another portable Bluetooth speaker, instead it's a mid-size speaker whose goal is to become the life of your party. To that effect, turn the Extreme on and its passive radiators not only pump out crazy strong bass, but...

It’s splash proof, packs in powerful audio with strong bass, comes in several colors, doubles as a high capacity 10,000mAH battery pack, passive radiators create a neat effect, included strap makes it easy to transport the Extreme, rechargeable battery

JBL Xtreme 4 Review

One of the best mid-size portable speakers around

Removable, replaceable battery ; Great sound quality ; Handy shoulder strap

Default tuning is a touch bass-happy ; It’s not cheap

One of the best mid-size portable speakers around. Those who already own an older Xtreme don’t need to upgrade to the JBL Xtreme 4 but there are some welcome upgrades in tow, including a long-lasting, removable battery. But the key draws are, as ever,...

JBL Xtreme review

High performance wrapped in a stylish, durable shell

Stylish build ; 10,000mAH battery ; Splashproof ; Booming sound

Heavy ; Pricey ; Ports difficult to access

JBL's Xtreme isn't as good at pumping out high fidelity sound as its cousin, the Infinity One, but at that, it's still a fantastic speaker. Sound quality, battery performance and the splashproof design are on-par with what you'd expect for the price.

JBL Xtreme review

You can have hours of fun with this fun, flexible wireless speaker...

Full, large-scale sound ; Care with dynamics ; Solidly built

Bass is a little heavy on its feet

Bold and powerful, but capable of great subtlety, the JBL Xtreme needs only to tighten up in the bass to become a real all-rounder

JBL Xtreme review

  (Rating Hidden)

Keeping its signature cylindrical shape with bouncing radiators at either end, the JBL Xtreme is a supersized version of its other popular portable wireless speakers. But at £250, the price has been inflated too. Can it translate its bulk into...

JBL Xtreme review: Get the party started

JBL raises the bar for portable speakers - the Xtreme is a fabulous party speaker

I always thought having lots of bass was a great thing, but the JBL Xtreme proves there is such a thing as having a touch too much. This isn’t a massive issue, but it does somewhat tarnish the appeal of the Xtreme, especially at its hefty £250 price tag.
