Libratone Loop Wireless Speaker: AirPlay meets Scandinavian design

Last week we had a look at a very impressive Bluetooth speaker set from Edifier, the e25 Luna Eclipse. Those speakers provided both excellent sound quality an...

Libratone Loop review

The Loop's design makes it a pleasant aesthetic addition to the modern home, but its sharp upper register and flat midrange put it far from the kind of eloquent and balanced sound we expect in a hi-fi device.

The Liberatone Loop’s design makes it a pleasant aesthetic addition to the modern home, and will likely attract attention and discussion from visitors. Serving a background role, it will provide sufficient sound at a dinner party or social event. But...

Libratone Loop

The Libratone Loop is an attractive-looking AirPlay speaker, but at $500 it needs to do more than just look pretty, and it just doesn't sound as good as it should.

Looks attractive. Gets loud. Clear, detailed-sounding midrange performance.

Distorting bass and overly bright highs with some genres of music. Stand can buzz against the table with heavy bass.

The Libratone Loop is certainly eye-catching, but its $500 price tag demands more than just looking good. A speaker this expensive should sound great, and the Loop simply isn't up to snuff. If you want the best performance in this price range, the...

Review: Libratone Loop

Meet Libratone's latest speaker. It's pretty, it's fuzzy, and it sounds fantastic — but only when AirPlay cooperates.

One look and you can imagine it as a living room centerpiece. Simple setup for an AirPlay speaker. Total sonic clarity, even at high volumes. Changeable cover colors. Easy to stand up or to mount on a wall

AirPlay remains unreliable, especially in areas with lots of wireless traffic in the air. Two-second delay for non-iTunes playback. 0 is a big price tag for a single speaker

Libratone Loop: AirPlay speaker plays well with Android and Windows devices

The Loop isn't cheap at $499.95, but it's got a slick, modern design and streams audio from a variety of devices.

Libratone Loop Review (AirPlay Compatible)

It would be fair to say that for a large number of us our primary music playback device is a smartphone and likely with earphones. Gone are the days of dedicated music systems, or even having our PC as a primary music device. Of course there are times...

Libratone Loop Review: The AirPlay Speaker That Looks As Good As It Sounds

For AirPlay speakers, there's a lot of choice out there. Often that can result in the feeling that there are essentially a lot of people sticking to an easy formula and churning out virtually interchangeable devices, but Libratone is a speaker-maker...

Room-filling sound ; Easy wall mounting with included hardware

Expensive ; Portable design but no battery

The Loop is a great AirPlay speaker, and with DLNA support, it’s relatively platform agnostic. I’m a sucker for the design aesthetic Libratone has chosen, too, so that’s a big selling point as well, but it’s the sound that brings it home. Libratone is...

Review: Libratone Loop AirPlay speaker

Danish audio firm Libratone adds to its collection of high-end speakers with the Loop, a round and relatively slim unit that produces some of the best treble fidelity we've heard from a product its size.

Ribbon tweeters offer unparalleled treble fidelity ; Wide, clean soundstage ; Effective use of DSP technology

Weak mid-range reproduction ; Not as powerful as other in-class speakers ; Wooly design is not for everyone

If your taste in music leans toward bass-thumping beats with an over-saturated mid-range, Loop is likely not for you. The speaker's design lends itself more to tight, restrained listening than raw output.

Libratone Loop review

Bright and open signature ; Tight bass ; Well-timed and articulate ; Flexible placement

Treble can sound sharp ; Non-Apple users may find it slightly limiting

An enjoyable sound from a unique-looking speaker
