Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

Logitech's Pure-Fi Express Plus doesn't sound so bad for a budget iPod dock, but it's seriously light on features.

Affordable. Decent sound for the price. Intuitive controls.

Distortion at high volumes. No AM/FM tuner. Remote offers limited iPod navigation, no alarm controls. Alarm can't use iPod's music to wake you.

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus review: Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

Logitech's Pure-Fi Express Plus is a simple--and affordable--iPod speaker system that features a built-in clock (with alarm) and a battery-power mode. Also, the speakers are omnidirectional and the GSM-shielded iPod dock allows the iPhone to be used...

No AM/FM radio; no built-in rechargeable battery; distorts at higher volumes.

Logitech's relatively inexpensive Pure-Fi Express Plus is a compact--and portable--iPod/iPhone speaker system with a built-in alarm clock that's fine for casual listening at home or on the road.

Review: Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

Despite the complicated name, Pure-Fi Express Plus is a very simple speaker system to understand: it's very affordable, sounds great for the price, and works with both iPods and iPhones. Measuring roughly 13.75" wide by 4.25" deep and 4.5" tall,...

Though we've made the point in prior mm50 and Pure-Fi Anywhere reviews, it's worth noting at this point that Logitech's portable audio systems deliver some of the very best sound quality we're heard at their prices, and Pure-Fi Express Plus is in the...

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

A simple iPod dock with room-filling sound.

Omnidirectional speakers work well, easy interface and iPod control

No rechargeable battery, no radio, distortion at full volume

The Pure-Fi Express Plus is a decent-sounding combination of alarm clock and iPod dock that will suit casual users.

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

It might be cheap, but Logitech's budget iPod dock is still a decent performer.

Sound quality is reasonably good for the money, Can run on battery power, Compact dimensions, Alarm clock function

Not very loud, Build quality is a bit plasticky

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus review

In this updated version of the Pure-Fi Express, Logitech's got the sound just right, but we've concerns about your iPod's positioning

Full and meaty sound ; good dynamics ; good detailing

Exposed iPod position ; limited remote functionality

It's got a great sound, although we've qualms about that iPod positioning

Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus

Logitech's relatively inexpensive Pure-Fi Express Plus is a compact — and portable — iPod/iPhone speaker system with a built-in alarm clock that's fine for casual listening at home or on the road.

Onidirectional speakers ; GSM-shielded iPod dock allows the iPhone to be used without the need to switch it to airplane mode

No AM/FM radio ; No built-in rechargeable battery ; Distorts at higher volumes

In the end, what it really comes down to is what kind of iPod audio system you're looking for. If you want something that's fairly compact, looks nice, is fine for casual listening, and is able to double-duty as a home and mobile unit, the Pure-Fi...
