The MiPow Playbulb Rainbow is a solid smart bulb that doesn't require a hub, and stands as the one of the most affordable entryways into the world of colorful connected lighting.

MiPow Playbulb Color

The versatile Playbulb Color from MiPow works well as a smart bulb, but disappoints on the Bluetooth speaker and mobile app fronts. You're best sticking with dedicated devices.

Pleasant light. No hub required.

Tinny sound. Can't be used with most lampshades. Light shines up or down, but not out. Laggy mobile app.

Conclusions For the cost, the Playbulb Color is a bit disappointing. It doesn't offer much in the way of features or customization, and the speaker gets tinny even at medium volumes. You'll get far better sound quality from an inexpensive Bluetooth...
