Panasonic SC-HTB10 Sound Bar First Look

Panasonic today announced that its first surround bar home theater speaker system would be spearheaded by the SC-HTB10 starting this summer. The sound bar is designed to fit neatly in front of a TV.

Does the lack of a dedicated subwoofer hinder the performance of this soundbar?

Two HDMI inputs ; Great virtual surround effect ; Decent bass and neutral balance

Ok sound, great integration with Panasonic TV

The dimensions I've seen listed in several places, including the Panasonic site are incorrectly reported as inches. I'm pretty sure they're centimeters. (The bar is 66.6 cm wide, not 66.6 in wide.)

Setup and integration with newer Panasonic TVs is great. Using VieraLink and HDMI ARC the TV controls power and volume to the soundbar, and displays sound level on-screen. No need to use a second remote (or reprogram your universal remote.)

Sound is better than default speakers. But this is no substitute for a real home theater system, or even a decent soundbar with a separate sub woofer ; Using the HDMI/ARC feature uses up one of your HDMI connections on the TV. The features do not work...

Greatly improved sound for TV

Our non-Panasonic large screen TV was purchased in 2009. A HDMI cable did not work for this soundbar but the toslink cable works very well. Simple hook up. Because I have trouble understanding some speaking, the slightly larger speakers in this product...
