Have to be close to item for it to work Goes off when you go out of range

I bought for my son's bike I put it in the frame and it's never picked up the device since

does beep when pressed but cannot be located by the app even when within feet of it

I bought it yesterday but it's not working I spend like hour to check how is it work..but it's not....
