Astonishingly broad and vivid sound

Plenty of features ; Automated calibration system

No subwoofer

It's the perfect partner for a 42in flatpanel screen and achieves an unobtrusive and astonishingly effective sense of surround sound without the need for additional surround speakers

COMMENTS RE: YSP 800

Got the YSP 800 cheap (now 900) after demoing loads of psuedo and trad 5.1 systems to go with 42 inch Plasma. They market this for 32 inch screens -don't worry, had a demo with vast screen / projector set up and worked fine. Amazing piece of kit, but...

Very effective pseudo surround with minimal domestic disruption

Needs serious tweaking via manual set up to get the best out of it. Needs sub.

GREAT IF YOUR ROOM IS SQUARE

A great solution for smaller, regular shaped rooms where you can get excellent performance in a neat and tidy package.

Delivers a superb 'wall of sound' (in right room conditions). Sound is crisp and clean ; Very tidy as minimal cables. Easy to set up

Struggles to cope with odd shaped rooms and for example shouldn't be positioned in an alcove

Extremely effective pseudo surround for the smaller room!

Tremendous solution for surround sound in the smaller room; the sound is extremely clean and clear which means you can listen properly with it on a low volume. Rear effects are handled without problem but are not the true surround sound that you can...

Single unit, Matched to screen, full sound decoding, Yamaha DSP modes, value for money speaker system, No cables - happy wife!

Not as good as the best 6.1 sound but you would need to spend a lot more money to get the better quality separates sound.
