Acer Iconia Tab W700 Review

Acer has delivered a surprisingly powerful and affordable hybrid device that is hampered by design issues.

Acer’s Iconia W700 is an interesting take on the PC’s future that can be surprisingly functional despite its unusual design. We used the docked system to write articles, edit photos, and browse the Web, then un-docked it to play Cut The Rope and watch...

Acer Iconia W700 review: a Core i5 Windows 8 slate that doesn't skimp on battery life

Until PC makers figure out what consumers want in their Windows 8 PCs, they'll be throwing different designs at the proverbial wall to see what sticks.

Well-built ; Surprisingly long battery life ; Fast performance, runs cool ; Attractively priced

Clumsy form factor ; Thick and heavy, even for a Core i5 tablet ; No mouse included, no trackpad on the keyboard

The W700 is hefty, even for a Core i5 tablet, and its bulky dock isn't good for traveling. Still, the tablet offers a rare combination of fast performance and long battery life.

Made for Work, Filled With Quirks

Since the introduction of Windows 8, manufacturers' focuses have been primarily on convertible laptops and hybrids. Slate tablets have been a bit of an afterthought, and for one big reason: price. Compared to $500 iPads and $200 Nexus 7′s, who in their...

Acer Iconia W700 review: Tablet, meet desktop

Acer's made a decent first attempt at tablet/desktop convergence with the W700, but the technology and implementation still isn't fully baked.

Functions as both tablet and desktop ; Fast, versatile dock

Heavy for a tablet; small for a desktop ; Needs a mouse

Acer's made a decent first attempt at tablet/desktop convergence with the W700, but it's not quite there yet.

Acer Iconia W700: A rare full-power Windows 8 tablet

Acer skips the low-power Atom or ARM chips in this unusual-looking hybrid.

The ; can work as a tablet or a small desktop, and it has a high-res screen and excellent battery life.

The non-adjustable stand limits viewing angles, and you'll need an external mouse or touch pad for efficient Windows navigation.

One of the only Core i5 slate-style Windows 8 systems we've seen, the Acer Iconia W700 asks few compromises for full-time use, but the design isn't for everyone.

Acer Iconia W700-6465

The Acer Iconia W700-6465 ($999.99 list) is a Windows 8 slate tablet, eschewing the traditional keyboard and clamshell design in favor of a screen-only form factor for enhanced mobility. Now, there have been Windows slate tablets in the past, like the...

Slate tablet form factor. 1080p resolution. Includes cradle and pre-paired keyboard. Very good battery life. Wide viewing angle. Comes with carrying case. Full Windows 8. Loud speakers

Text and UI are small in desktop mode. Needs Wacom digitizer stylus compatibility for artists and engineers. No GPS

The Acer Iconia W700-6465 slate tablet shows where Microsoft wants to go with touch-based Windows 8, plus it's more compatible with your existing software than anything running Windows RT.

Acer Iconia W700 review

Few systems have had as polarizing an effect in the CNET offices as the Acer Iconia W700. Some felt this full Windows 8 touch-screen tablet and keyboard combo looked ridiculous, or was unwieldy for everyday use. Others liked that it has an Intel Core...

Acer's Iconia W700 Ivy Bridge Windows 8 Tablet: The Start of Something Big

My first meeting of Computex wasn't a meeting at all, rather it was Acer's press conference a day before the show officially started. In its press conference, Acer introduced a top to bottom lineup of touch enabled Windows 8 devices.

Review Acer Iconia W700-53334G12as Tablet

Runs and runs and runs. While Windows 8 tablets powered by Atom SoCs are literally flooding the market, ones with a Core i processor are still scarce. Some users doubt whether a Windows model can compete with the ARM competition particularly when it...

Strong battery, Very good viewing angles, Decent performance owing to the SSD, Pleasant feel, Agreeably slim design, Good keyboard, Quiet, The really good touchscreen alongside its crisp colors and great viewing angles

Moderate build, Mediocre screen brightness, Poor cameras, Few interfaces, A second USB port should have been a must
