Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) review

Amazon's Fire HD 8 is the absolute best tablet you can buy under $100.

Affordable ; Loud speakers ; Decent performance ; Good battery life

Screen quality isn’t great ; Amazon Appstore still lacks a lot of apps ; Alexa needs trigger word support

Amazon’s Fire HD 8 is a fantastic tablet for the money, but just know what you’re buying it for: Amazon media and a few apps.

Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition review: An amazing value

The hardware is good, but Amazon's FreeTime Unlimited is the real star of the all-ages Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet.

This low-cost tablet is good enough for most video, game, app and social needs, plus its onboard storage is expandable via microSD card. The Kids Edition includes a wealth of extras, including deep parental controls, a no-questions-asked two-year...

The Kids Edition costs significantly more than the otherwise identical standard version. There are the same app store limitations as the other Amazon Fire tablets, and no kid is going to prefer this to a (much more expensive) iPad.

The kid-friendly version of the excellent Amazon Fire HD 8 costs a lot more, but offers a big package of worthwhile extras for preteens.

Amazon's 8-inch tablet is a bargain Goldilocks would love.

Amazon Fire HD 8: A great cheap tablet is now a better deal

Except for some new color options, Amazon's 8-inch tablet hardware remains unchanged. But its price drop makes it an even better bargain.

The latest Fire HD 8 delivers faster performance, a bigger battery and more base storage than the previous version for almost half the price. Its 8-inch screen is bright, the speakers are loud and it offers expandable microSD storage and ample parental...

Display isn't as sharp as that of the iPad Mini; to truly take advantage of what the tablet has to offer, you need an Amazon Prime membership; slow charging (takes 6 hours to fully cap battery).

Despite some small drawbacks, you just won't find a tablet with these features and performance at this price.

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) Tablet Review

A real steal. Amazon has updated its 8-inch tablet Fire HD 8. Depending on the configuration, it will cost you between $80 and $125 - it does not really get much cheaper than that. Our review is going to clarify whether or not the tablet is really...

decent quality and feel ; microSD cards up to 256 GB ; bright display ; dual-band Wi-Fi ; remains cool ; no throttling ; stereo sound with Dolby Atmos ; long battery life ; cheap

tied to Amazon ; outdated OS based on Android 5.1.1 ; no Google Play ; poor camera ; no NFC, no GSM/UMTS/LTE ; no GPS

Like its predecessors and 7 and 10-inch siblings, the Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) offers an incredible price-performance ratio. Those of you, who already own the predecessor, can skip this latest version. Apart from some minor enhancements (larger microSD...

Now you can root the 2017 Amazon Fire HD 8 (but it’s not easy)

After last month, Amazon started shipping the new tablet to customers a few days ago.

Or you could just buy a different tablet that does what you want out of the box. But I still think the Amazon Fire HD 8 is one of the best tablets you can buy for under $100. It’s an even better deal when you can find one on sale — right now Amazon is...

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) Review and Ratings

Amazon's 2017 Fire HD 8 remains one of today's best tablet deals. At $10 cheaper than the 2016 edition and with improved battery life, this tablet delivers tremendous value for its price, despite middling hardware specs and a chunky chassis.

Very good value for the screen size ; Easy-to-navigate FireOS design ; Loud audio output

Clunky, thick-feeling physical design ; FireOS lacks Google services ; Poor camera quality

With the $10 price drop on the HD 8, Amazon made its enticing 8-inch Fire tablet an even sweeter deal. No, it’s not the fastest slate around, nor the sleekest. But the price is the thing here, and if you are comfortable with the Amazon ecosystem, the...

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) review

A limited upgrade to a great tablet

Suitably large screen ; Good storage options

No stand out improvements ; Poor cameras

Amazon's Fire HD 8 (2017) offers a small improvement on previous iterations of the company's affordable tablet line. It's a great deal for first-time buyers, though there's no strong incentive to update your current tablet if you've already got one in...

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) review

Amazon calls the 2017 edition of its Fire HD 8 tablet the "all-new Fire HD 8," but there really isn't anything new about it except a handful of new colors -- oh, and its slightly lower price tag. Already a good deal when it debuted at $90 or £90 in...
