ASUS Transformer Book T300 Chi review: thinner than air, but at what cost?

When ASUS formally unveiled the Transformer Book Chi T300, it did so in the cheekiest way possible: with a cleverly worded swipe at Apple. "Our Chi is thinner...

On paper, the Transformer Book Chi T300 is a good deal for what it is: $899 (or less) for a super-thin tablet with a sharp screen that accepts pen input, and a keyboard dock that actually comes in the box at no extra charge ( ahem , Microsoft). Still,...

Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi review

The Asus T300 Chi hits the mark with a full size detachable keyboard and beautiful display.

The Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi represents the latest evolution in the company’s long-running line of detachable notebooks, which started with Android systems several years ago. Practice has helped refine the formula into a thin, yet functional,...

Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi

The pricey Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi is a very thin, elegant-looking detachable-hybrid tablet that makes some major concessions in the name of portability.

Svelte chassis. Clamshell mode is balanced. Screen's magnetic latch and hinge are very stable. Fanless design, thanks to Intel Core M processor. Performance similar to that of a Core i5-equipped tablet

Micro ports mean dongles for everything. Can't charge tablet via USB. Bluetooth keyboard needs to be charged separately. Short depth on trackpad. AC adapter's barrel connector fits in headset jack. Hidden media card slot. Bloatware

Detachable-hybrid tablets are your best choice if you need a laptop most of the time, but also need a tablet on occasion. The Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi ($899 as tested) has a magnetic latch on its keyboard dock, so you can undock the tablet...

Asus' Transformer Book T300 Chi is one of the thinnest laptops you can buy, but is it the best?

Take a look at the side profile of your laptop. Chances are, it's anywhere from a half an inch to an inch thick, replete with a handful of USB ports, a power plug, headphone jack, and maybe an SD...

It's really thin! ; Solid build quality ; Fast performance

Below average battery life ; Trackpad is too small ; Connecting anything requires an adapter ; Keyboard hinge doesn't rotate far enough

Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi (Signature Edition)

Running a finger along the top edge of the 12.5-inch display, a small ridge about an inch long brushed against my finger. That was the culprit. When the display and keyboard base of the T300 Chi are assembled into its clamshell laptop form, the...

The Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi makes good use of Intel's low-power Core M processor, and includes a keyboard dock that works attached or remotely. The screen has a better-than-HD resolution.

Performance and battery life is still not on par with what other slim hybrids and laptops deliver. Some design quirks, such as a poorly placed power button, can get in the way.

This good-looking fanless hybrid works as a slim Windows tablet or an ultra-portable laptop, but still suffers from the same awkward marriage of base and screen as many hybrids.

Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi Convertible Review

Find your inner Zen with the Chi. The runaway success of the lauded Zenbook Ultrabooks and Transformer tablets have prompted Asus to create a whole new family of convertibles under the Transformer Book series known as the Chi. The T300 Chi is the most...

Lightweight and very thin, Attractive and well-made tablet, Respectable CPU performance, Beautiful WQHD resolution display with wide gamut, Bright backlight, Low latency, responsive hardware, USB 3.0, MicroSD reader, and HDMI-out, Fanless design

Wobbly magnet hinges, Keyboard dock provides no additional features or ports, Keyboard keys have shallow travel, Reduced performance on batteries, Unable to maintain full Turbo Boost under constant stress, Display could benefit from calibration, Right...

For browsing, word processing, and multimedia, the T300 Chi works wonderfully as it is responsive and more than capable for common everyday tasks. Users will be impressed by the slim design, enormous amount of RAM for a tablet, and large screen...

ASUS Transformer Book T300 Chi review: Nice-looking hybrid, let down by battery life

Elegant design and a high-resolution screen make the T300 Chi an attractive hybrid, but there are enough drawbacks - battery life foremost among them - to give mobile professionals pause for thought.

Excellent build ; High-quality 12.5-inch screen ; USB 3.0 support

Disappointing battery life ; No full-size SD card slot ; Keyboard uses Bluetooth connection

Asus Transformer Book Chi T300 review – a $549 premium-looking 2-in-1

Asus's CHI T300 is a device that will turn heads, grace to its looks and svelte silhouette. It's not just a looker though, is also surprisingly fast in everyday use for a fanless Core M powered machine, packs a good display and is bundled with one of...

At the end of the day, the Transformer Book T300 Chi is one of the most interesting 2-in-1s of the moment.

Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi Review – Students Will Love This 2-in-1

Very quietly, the 2-in-1 laptop/tablet hybrid market got a lot more interesting with the introduction of the Intel Core M processor. These new chipsets run cool enough to not need a fan. And, while Core M doesn't always mean the device is going to be...

Beautiful premium aluminum design is super thin and lightweight, excellent 12.5-inch WQHD display, the keyboard is included, versatile form-factor, comes with free upgrade to Windows 10, runs fanless, solid performance, compatible with an optional...

16:10 aspect ratio is a bit awkward – especially for tablet use, at about 5 hours on a charge – battery is a bit disappointing, keyboard is a bit springy but still pretty solid
