I have the Russell Hobbs 18371. It looks the same as 18370.I agree with your testing , it toasts on one side, when you increase the browning it just burns on one side and is slightly brown on the other.It was bought as a present. Think i might go back...

Authough this toaster does require quite a large space on the worktop, its worth it. Nice wide slots so no more un-toasted ends. and you do not have to have all 4 slots wasting energy as each side is independant.

So far so good it seems a bit slower than my old Rowenta but browns evenly all over

after years of purchasing really awful toasters -then returning them as they were all faulty or just really badly made!!

I NEED TO TURN THE TIMER ALMOST TO POSITION 6 TO GET BROWN TOAST BUT IT DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE BOX.VERY HAPPY BUY!

I had been looking for a red 4 slice toaster that could toast one slice independently.
