Panasonic TX-P50VT50

Panasonic's flagship 50in TV is another plasma star.

Excellent, cinematic picture quality ; Minimal crosstalk with 3D images ; Good value for what's on offer

Not the brightest pictures in the world ; Some fizzing noise over skin tones ; Chubbier and heavier than LCD models

Panasonic has attempted to further improve the Smart TV user experience by shipping the P50VT50 with a second remote carrying a touch pad for more intuitive navigation of the set’s built-in Web browser. Unfortunately, though, this apparently helpful...

Exclusive: It's big, beautiful and brilliant. Say hello to Panasonic's new flagship 55in TV.

Sensational 2D and 3D pictures, Gorgeous design, Mostly good online system

Pictures not especially bright, especially with 3D, Panasonic's own ST50 series offers stiff competition, Touchpad remote is flawed

Panasonic TX-P50VT50B review

Is this the ultimate home cinema screen?

Intense black ; No motion blur ; Peerless 2D and 3D Blu-ray ; Viera Connect interface

Dated TV user interface ; Limited digital file support ; Touchpad feels first-gen

Panasonic should consider its flagship 50-inch TV blacklisted. Among home cinema aficionados the talk is always of the importance of a TV's ability to produce pure black.

Panasonic TX-P50VT50

When Pioneer announced it was pulling out of the TV market, and ceasing production of the Kuro, there were plenty of home cinema fans who had a little panic. The problem was, there was no TV out there that could match the Kuro. Sure, it wasn't perfect,...

Amazing sharpness, very bright, superb 2D and 3D image quality, amazing styling, plenty of inputs, both freesat HD and Freeview HD tuners

Some picture artifacts on moving objects, 3D glasses still a bit to heavy

Plasma has always been our choice of display tech. But now, Panasonic has managed to weed out most of the little quirks that made the technology less appealing. Here, we have an ultra-sharp TV that does 3D brilliantly, has an incredible 2D picture and...

Panasonic TX-P55VT50 review

Despite Panasonic revealing a new-found enthusiasm for LED this year, most serious video enthusiasts will still be carrying a torch for the brand's new plasma TVs, particularly the flagship VT50 series auditioned here.

Sensational picture quality in 2D and 3D mode; excellent build quality and design

It’s pretty expensive; pictures aren’t as bright in light conditions as LED TVs

Panasonic TX-P50VT50B review

If there's one series of TVs that AV enthusiasts have taken to their hearts almost as dearly as Pioneer's old Kuro range, it's Panasonic's premium VT models. Over the last few years, these sets have consistently produced class-leading black levels and...

Hugely impressive picture quality; Stunningly deep black levels; Gorgeous colours; Good audio quality; Sterling range of smart apps.

The cheaper GT50 offers many of the same features at a much lower cost; Menu presentation needs a refresh.

The stunning 50-inch Panasonic TX-P50VT50B produces possibly the best pictures I've seen from a TV. There isn't a massive difference between it and the cheaper TX-P50GT50B though, apart from a £500 price hike, so this is one for the purists.

For this review we tested the 50in model in the VT50 range, but it's also available in in 55in (TX-P55VT50) and 65in (TX-P65VT50) screen sizes. All models have identical specifications except for their dimensions and power usage. We're confident that...
