Hitachi 37LD8800TA

When a television with cutting edge technology and exquisite design is set up in our test centre for review, we all hold our breath hoping and praying...

Excellent Display, Enormous number of input options, image reader modes, attractive design

Average composite mode

This is one of the best TVs we have seen in the office and is easily equal to the Sony Bravia and Sharp Aquos.

The Hitachi 37LD88000TA LCD TV's above-average pricing is offset by a suite of luxury features and mouth-watering picture quality.

Clean and sharp images ; Near-perfect shadow details ; Sleek and sexy design ; Onboard USB and SD/MMC card reader ; Dual HDMI ; Motorised stand

No backlight for remote ; Bass-shy audio ; A bit pricey

With a recent price revision to a lighter AU$4399 price tag, there are more compelling reasons to shortlist the Hitachi 37LD8800TA for your flat-panel upgrade with its fine balance of aesthetics, feature set and performance.

I bought the newer cheaper 37LD900DTA.

Good picture quality

Very slow to change channels, 2+ seconds of blank screen using internal tuner ; Very slow to receive program info (2 minutes) ; Cannot reorder Favorites ; Remote keypad layout not suited to usage

all ready to shell out for this LCD when, low and behold and new model takes it's place. My concern is that the model that replaces it is $1600 cheaper. What gives?

was the lcd for me

now there's a new model

I'm into movie mistakes and the Freeze mode fits my bill, besides Multi Picture helps out with the commercials. 2 RGBs and 2 HDMIs makes my future plans and the lovely powered swivel (whoever designed this needs a pat) without a brick is not found...

Dark and imposing in a spartan hall standing on a black cabinet with a 2x2 footprint - switched off

Un-illuminated remote which can't parry with most DVD players

Picked this up yesterday and I have to say for the price I don't think there is currently anything better on the market. $1800 at Bing Lee (be prepared to haggle) and you will go home happy.

Excellent true colour display ; Plenty of inputs, with this TV and a surround system with several imputs you will find that you have 8 inputs (not including 2 HDMI connections ; Buid quality and appearance is far superior to other sets of similar price...

Sound is not as goo as I would have liked ; The remote could be a bit nicer. If you have this TV, a VCR, DVD player, STB etc you might consider just getting a univeral remote such as the Sony REMOTE COMMANDER RMAV3000T ; (see...

5 years of waiting for the right TV led me to the 37LD8800TA. Wow.

Picture. Stand. Price. Menus/features. Price. Picture. Picture

Internal speakers not exactly fantastic. But again, who cares. 5.1 would be the bare minimum you'd want hooked up by this beauty

Beautiful PQ complemented by beautiful design ashtetics. The swivel capability blows aways friends and family but it's amazing how practical it really is. Get some proper HD content (WMV HD, Blu-ray or HD-DVD) to really appreciate it.

PQ ; build and asthetic quality ; connectivty (2xHDMI, 2xComponent, USB, SD, etc..) ; UI and number of adjustments available (you'll spend ages in DVE if you are a videophile)

internal speakers are ordinary (but why oh why would you use them, by a decent home theatre solution!) ; Component inputs clip lower than video black
