A 42-inch home cinema partner with a stellar price tag

Good value for money ; Great picture, particularly with true HD

Hitachi 42PD8700U

Getting any 42-inch plasma TV for just £1,400 is a tempting prospect. But when that plasma TV, in this case Hitachi's 42PD8700U, also claims to give you a native 'true HD' 1080-line resolution, it's fair to say our interest has been piqued.

42-inch plasma goodness, Well priced

Average on every level

The price is certainly right for this 42-inch plasma TV, but its good performance overall isn't going to break any records
