Hitachi 42HDS69

Accurate color decoding; excellent connectivity with three HDMI and three component-video inputs; comprehensive aspect ratio controls; CableCard slot; slick styling; swivel stand.

Reproduces relatively light blacks; side-mounted speakers add to overall width; limit of five total external A/V sources; no PC input.

Anchored by great connectivity, the Hitachi 42HDS69 competes well against other 42-inch plasmas in both price and picture quality.

Performance

Hitachi 42HDT51

Complete independent memory per input, including separate Day and Night modes for each input; excellent connectivity; includes power swivel stand.

Mediocre black-level performance; some false-contouring artifacts; below-average color decoding.

An awesome design and a full-fledged feature package make this higher-resolution plasma almost worth its high price.

Hitachi 42PD8900TA

Dual analog tuners. Excellent image quality. Twin HDMI inputs.

Doesn't support full 1080i. Lacks built-in HD tuner. Not much improvement over cheaper 42PD8800TA model.

A well built plasma with excellent picture quality but lacking several features that should be standard in this price range.

Hitachi 42PD5000TA

This Hitachi plamsa adds value by adding extras the others might not have - like a built in TV tuner, speakers and a swivel stand.

Impressive stand with swivel base ; Sharp picture quality ; Speakers have rich sound quality

Phosphor has a distinct bluish tinge ; Legends for controls not visible if wall mounted

Great TV

This flat screen is awesome! Very easy set-up You go thru 8 questions and bam! you're set up, very user friendly. It has a great picture, very sharp, easy to understand instructions. This was a great purchase, and easy pay was great! Thank you shopnbc !!!
