Hitachi 50PD960DTA

The 50in Hitachi 50PD960DTA is a familiar product. Like the smaller 42in [[prodid:3025]], it uses an ALiS panel to achieve 1080p compatibility. Howe...

Excellent high definition performance, attractive design, good connection options

Noise and sharpness issues in standard definition, below-average PC performance

The Hitachi 50PD960DTA is a mid-range unit with excellent high definition performance, reasonable standard definition performance and poor performance when connected to a PC.

Hitachi 50PD960DTA

The current generation of LCD panels have been getting all the attention lately, but Hitachi is fighting back with the 50PD960DTA. Measuring in at a massive 50inches, this display is 1080P capable and looks great in any setting.

Built-in HD tuner ; Motorised stand ; One touch input remote ; Reasonable price

Some pixilation in HD mode ; Doesn't support full 1920 x 1080 HD resolution ; Poor audio performance

The increasing number of LCD screens on the market has left plasma TVs outside of the spotlight for while, but displays like Hitachi's 50PD960DTA show there's still plenty of life in the technology.

Hitachi 50PD960DTA

I have to agree with the last comment.

Full range of settings not available on all sets and really requires the user to dig in and make personal settings

compared to other 42" screens the pd9600 produced a picture quality as good as any in this price bracket ; Gee............that's funny, I thought Fujitsu used the same screen for their sets

Hitachi 50PD960DTA

I have the Hitachi 42PD960DTA which is very simialr to the 50PD960DTA. The only differences are that my unit has a 42" screen, a moterised swivel base, 1024x1080 resolution, beautiful picture quality and no noticable pixilation.

Cnet should be ashamed of this so called review. It is a bad joke.
