LG 37LE5900

This 37in LED LCD TV's features and price both look good, but can we say the same about its pictures?

LG 37LE5900 review

Edge LED lighting in a 37-inch LCD TV for £700 can't be bad. Or can it?

Slender and pretty ; Cheap for an edge LED model ; Lots of features and connections ; HD pictures can look decent

An indifferent black level response ; Backlight inconsistency ; Poor online service ; Motion blur and colour issues with standard-def

One day all LCD TVs will have LED backlights. LG's 37LE5900 is an edge-lit set that that costs just £700, proving that the technology is getting cheaper by the day and hastening the inevitable demise of creaky old CCFL.

LG 37LE5900 review

Highly capable TV with bags of features including DLNA, NetCast and a Freeview HD tuner

Bags of features, with DLNA and NetCast ; Freeview HD ; good sound ; stylish design

Struggles with the deepest black levels ; colours could be better

Stylish and a top performer but it falls short of the very best

LG 42LE5900 review

It's pretty enough, but this 42 incher from LG is a let-down after the company's recent forays in the television market

Stylish, easy to use ; decent detail ; handles motion well ; bright, punchy pictures

Images lack crispness ; soft standard-def picture ; over-rich colour balance ; sound is weedy

Disappointing by LG’s recent standards and unable to trouble the class-leading sets at this price

LG 42LE5900 review

Edge-lit LED LCD TV with NetCast and sporadically superb pictures

Performance with hi-def ; Colours ; Features ; Ease of use

Patchy backlight coverage ; Occasionally poor motion ; Weedy audio

A generously featured set that succeeds in many ways, but is let down by a couple of distracting picture niggles

Nice model but-----

Good quality television but it did not do as it said on the box or rather what it said on the webside it would do.

LG 37LE5900

This set has excellent picture even when not in HD, at times you can be forgiven for thinking you are looking through a window rather than watching TV the picture is so sharp. LED is the way forward to me.

Initially I was disappointed with the sound quality, but within a couple of attempts we have adjusted it and it is now perfectly acceptable.

Superb image and very easy to use. Wide array of inputs both digital and analogue.

None at all

LG 37LE5900

Easy to use, very good picture, with lots of features.

Netcast is limited to BBC iPlayer, for catch up tv it would great if they added 4od and other i players.

LG 37LE5900

Crisp picture even when not watching HD channels. Classy looking with slimmer than average surround. I am very pleased with it for the money !

A bit picky but it is quite slow (maybe 2 seconds) when you put in the 'number' to change channel - 'scrolling' up or down is OK.
