A Review of the LG Electronics 49UB8500 49-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV

LG's 4K TVs are some of the best and at times some of the priciest on the market for ultra HD home entertainment. This is where the LG 49UB8500 comes in as an excellent value alternative to its more expensive cousins such as the OLED 4K line of LG TVs.

A very competitive price for an LG 4K TV ; Top-shelf LG 4K technology and picture clarity ; Great connectivity ; Plenty of HDMI 2.0 ports ; Refined, streamlined Smart TV interface ; HEVC compatibility

There are cheaper options from Samsung and others ; Edge-lit LED backlighting causes blooming/shading problems ; Tru-Motion engine causes problems in some content

If you want a very high-quality, versatile LG TV that packs a lot of punch without breaking your home entertainment budget, then get the 49UB8500.

Good TV

Honestly I would pay a little more and go with a samsung or another more reputable brand. LG's customer service is a nightmare. I really hope I didnt waste my money on this tv.

Relatively ok

Don't take all the cons as total negativity. I still enjoy the TV, just wish some of the features were a little smoother/faster. And, I wish the pixels weren't dropping off the grid.

Despite the dead pixel and edge lighting issues, the TV is still quite acceptable, and is the cheapest large format 4k display that can be used as a monitor. Throw in the 3d and it becomes a price/performance point that no other manufacturer can match.

One of the only TVs to work at 4k 60hz and still maintain 4:4:4 sampling when connected to a PC via HDMI 2.0, and it works OOB without any tweaking(requires a GPU with HDMI 2, currently only NVIDIA 900 series). Passive 2d to 3d is a cool feature to add...

LG 55UB8500

For the money this TV is absolutely Great!! I bought it knowing it has only 120hz refresh you pay another $400 to $500 dollars to get 240hz.YMMV on this I have had both it is a toss up! There is a lot of value for the money on the set buy yourself one...

reason tv seems so slow.

didn't buy here

in order for a 3-d tv to display right and left images it must alternate right and left images effectively halving the refresh rate. hdmi auto negotiates this and thus the tv set may be showing all input as 3d or 2d source as virtual 3d. the device or...

information from vendor would be nice to know if this is why it seems to be a 60hz tv to the other user
