This very likeable 50in television provides yet more proof that the first battle in the 3D war has been won by plasma technology.

LG 50PX990 review

The splendid LG 50PX990 challenges the incumbent 3D TV Award-winner from Samsung

Thoughtful design ; extensive spec ; across-the-board ability with most sources

TV reception could be better ; sound doesn’t excite

At worst competent, and at best very good indeed, the LG’s persuasive in the extreme

LG 50PX990 review

Stylish, competent and delightfully user-friendly 3D plasma

Sumptuously designed ; Excellent operating system ; Mostly very good 3D and 2D pictures ; THX 3D endorsement ; Not bad value

Currently impoverished online system ; Black levels could be better ; A little input lag ; Occasional image retention

The plasma-powered LG 50PX990 is the UK's first TV with THX 3D certification.

Beautifully built; relatively little crosstalk with 3D

Annoying image retention; black levels not class-leading; one pair of 3D glasses only

Easy to set up, excellent 3D image

Not quite as good a HD picture as my Pioneer HD TV

LG 50PX990

3D at bargain price. Blu ray and sky HD look amazing. Easy to use/setup. Nice stand.

Only 1 pair of 3D glasses, Sky SD on HDMI looks naff (probably Sky's fault). Sharp glass corners if you have kids. Does not come already on stand (the 60" version does). A bit too much frame round the screen making the unit large. 3D content...
