LG 55EC9300 review

If you're so hungry for OLED that you're willing to overlook some image judder, then the EC9300 is an otherwise excellent television.

We’re in a pickle here. On one hand, the 55EC9300 delivers the promise of near-perfect blacks, excellent contrast, and rich color that OLED is revered for. Pair that with an excellent smart TV interface and wrap it up in a sexy package, and you’ve got...

LG 55EC9300 OLED TV: the best picture quality ever

With its bright whites and perfect black levels, the LG 55EC9300 lives up to the promise of OLED with the best picture quality of any TV we've ever reviewed.

The LG 55EC9300 OLED TV's picture betters that of any LCD or plasma TV, with perfect black levels and exceedingly bright whites. It's equally adept in bright and dark rooms, showed accurate color, and looks better from off-angle than any LED LCD. Its...

Albeit the most-affordable OLED TV yet, the 55EC9300 is still very expensive for a 55-inch TV. Its video processing and color accuracy don't measure up to that of the best TVs, and the curved screen introduces some artifacts.

The 55-inch LG 55EC9300 offers the world-beating picture quality of OLED TV for the lowest price yet.

LG 55EC9300 curved OLED HDTV review: Stunning image quality, but no 4K

Despite the absence of 4K support, I found no trouble with this curve.

OLED technology delivers brilliant picture quality ; The curved display is no mere gimmick ; WebOS supports one of the best smart-TV user interfaces we've seen

1080p resolution, not 4K ; Much higher price tag than LCD TVs of the same size and resolution

The LG 55EC9300 is an excellent TV, thanks to OLED technology, curved glass, and WebOS. It would be even better in 4K, but it would also be considerably more expensive.

LG 55EC9300

The curved LG 55EC9300 proves that OLED technology is the future of HDTVs, even if it's too expensive for most consumers right now.

Excellent picture. Perfect black levels. Accurate color. Very good 3D effect with both included glasses and clip-on lenses.

Very expensive. Magic Remote can be tricky to use at times.

The HDTV supports passive 3D, and comes with two pairs of glasses and two pairs of clip-on 3D filters you can put over your own glasses. The clip-ons are a nice touch that makes it much easier for glasses wearers to enjoy 3D. I watched IMAX Under the...

LG 55EC9300 review

Videophiles who mourn the loss of plasma , take heart: OLED is better , and thanks to LG it's finally getting cheaper.

LG EC9300 TV

The LG 55EC9300 OLED TV provides excellent picture quality and overall performance. The blacks and response time are perfect, but the uniformity of the colors could be improved. There is temporary image retention, but this should not be a problem for...

Perfect blacks ; Perfect motion (although flicker free) ; Great viewing angle (but with a yellow tint)

Not ideal in a bright room (purple reflections and doesn't get very bright) ; Varying luminosity depending on the scene (ABL) ; Poor dark colors uniformity ; Prone to temporary image retention after displaying static images

It’s possible that curved displays will end up being the same flash in the pan that 3D TV was, but I hope that’s not what happens. And while OLED technology is expensive, it looks better than LCD. I heartily recommend you check it out for yourself...

LG 55EC9300 55-Inch OLED TV Review: Stunning Picture

Years spent squinting at screens and test results can jaundice any critical eye. But the LG 55EC9300 OLED set is a revelation. Its crystal-clear image and impressive contrast range will win over many viewers, even those who turn up their nose at the...

Stunning picture with unbeatable contrast ; OLED technology allows true black, unattainable on other sets ; Excellent smart features based on webOS interface and “magic” remote.

The curved screen can be distracting ; Offers only HD, not ultra HD, resolution.

LG's OLED TV comes close to perfection, thanks to gorgeous colors, stunning contrast and an intuitive smart-TV interface and remote.

LG 55EC9300 3D OLED HDTV

2D Performance 3D Performance Features

Now that we’re about to turn the page into 2015, OLED HDTVs, so promising a year ago, appear to be at risk. The limited yield for OLED panels, resulting in a high retail cost, has driven most HDTV makers to the sidelines.

LG 55EC9300

Still, the LG offers overall picture quality that the toughest experts judge to be on a par with the PN60F8500 overall, as witnessed by those two sets being declared co-winners of the 2014 Value Electronics Shoot Out. To its credit, the Samsung is more...

Incredible black levels, Good color performance, High brightness

Minor concerns over image retention, Some small color bobbles, Not the best motion performance
