LG 50PG60

The 50-inch LG 50PG60 delivers detailed HD, but its color and contrast lag behind the competition.

Excellent detail with HD sources. Comprehensive picture controls. Attractive design. Swivel-base stand.

THX picture preset could be better optimized. Weak picture contrast compared with similar models.

LG PG60 review: LG PG60

LG PG60

Highly accurate primary colors in THX mode; solid video processing; superb feature set with numerous picture controls; fine connectivity with four HDMI and one PC input; beautiful external design.

Less accurate color decoding and grayscale in THX mode; produces lighter blacks than the best plasmas.

Although its THX mode isn't as accurate as we'd like to see, the massive LG 60PG60 60-inch plasma TV still delivers a good picture.

Acronis True Image 8.0 for Windows

Not the Sharpest Image

Full image backup and restore worked fine. The Acronis Secure Zone makes a decent option for those with a single disk drive and partition.

We were surprised to find a serious bug in single file restore, but it has since been fixed. No native DVD support.

Like Norton Ghost, Acronis can create incremental images, and we were able to recover full partitions using any combination of full and incremental backup files. But when we tried to restore single files using the Explore Image feature, which creates a...

LG 50PG60 Plasma HDTV

LG may be one of the world's largest LCD makers, but the company is still very much in the plasma game, with an updated lineup of six plasma HDTVs.

LG 50PG60 Plasma HDTV

LG may be one of the world's largest LCD makers, but the company is still very much in the plasma game, with an updated lineup of six plasma HDTVs.

The set's aspect ratio options include Just Scan, which (in theory) provides a direct 1:1 transfer of all the source pixels to the screen, with maximum resolution and no overscan. Just Scan is available only in 720p, 1080i, and 1080p (component and...

LG 50PG60 Plasma TV

Recently, THX announced it would extend that process to video products, including flat-panel TVs. The first two such TV lines—LG's 50- and 60-inch PG60 and Panasonic's 50- and 58-inch PZ800 plasmas—were introduced at about the same time, and I've been...

LG 60PG60 Plasma HDTV Reviewed

This is one of the few THX-certified plasma TVs. This model includes LG's new Fluid Motion 180Hz technology which is designed to render smoother movement. The USB port allows for JPEG and MP3 playback and LG has included advanced control ports like...

This is the only 60-inch THX-certified plasma on the market, and it offers very good performance with high-def content. Standard-def content also fares well ; There are lots of picture controls at your disposal, but most users will appreciate the...

The 60LG60's video performance is not quite to the level of the best high-end plasmas we've seen ; While the LG's front screen is less reflective than previous panels, plasmas are generally not as bright as LCDs and therefore not the best pick for a...

While the 60LG60's performance does not rank at the very top of our list, it produces attractive HD and SD images with minimal set-up effort, if you go with the THX mode. It's also less expensive than the highest-end 60-inch panels, and it's the only...

LG 50PG60 Review – 50-inch Plasma HDTV

Six manual-aspect ratio modes are included in LG50PG60 which helps detecting the incoming content and attempts to adjust aspect automatically. This stunning 50” plasma HDTV has clear voice technology for enhanced audio performance and dual XD image...

On the negative side, LG 50PG60 is a bit overpriced, has less accurate color decoding and grayscale in THX mode and has some false contouring. LG 50PG60 just doesn’t quite measure up to the impressive standard of the first THX-certified Panasonic...
