LG BD390 review

LG's BD390 is perfect proof that Blu-ray decks are getting cheaper, while their innards are becoming more elaborate

Superb feature list ; Wireless HD video streaming ; Excellent video performance

Audio only reasonable ; Unoriginal, if nice, design

Faultless video and a massive feature set make this the arguably the best Blu-ray player around - and certainly for the price

"never again, LG."

blu-rays worked fine for about the first 8 or 9 months, then only 1 in every 3 or 4 would work. i added external storage at customer supports suggestion. it helped... for a while. i thought my problem was solved until my player was about 3 months out...

super fast load speed. wired or wireless internet connection. very easy to use. vudu and netflix ready.

plays less than half of recent blu-ray discs. wireless connection too slow to support netflix. insufficient on-board storage.

BEST Blue-Ray on the market Bar-None!!

Simply put: the pros tower over the cons. If you don't want to go the playstation route this is the Blu-Ray player you should get.

This is by far the best individual stand alone Blue-Ray Player on the market right now. I know LG is coming out with a 3-D version sometime this spring, but the wi-fi with Netflix, 1 gb storage, and usb flash drive port makes this a must if you don't...

The remote is not that impressive

Update to earlier review

Any reviews that say this is the best blu-ray player available...believe it. I'm thrilled with the network features and when my network is wonky I can use the usb. obviously blu-ray disk movies are rendered perfectly. Great buy even at $300.

Plays my mp4 video from Windows Home Server, powers off after 5 minutes of non-use

slow to boot up, weird placement of power and eject button (and they seem backwards...eject should have been placed over the drive tray and the power on the otherside); unfortunately wireless is only on the 2.4GHz frequency (which is okay if you live...

Great player, when it works

For the money, I expected better software. Strictly as a BD player, you're better off with a PS3. It might make sense if you need to play boutique file formats.

Fantastic quality video and audio, when it works. As others have said, plays just about any file you can throw at it. Excellent wireless range. Quickly loads BDs

The unit has a large footprint, looks like an '80s VCR player. Goofy engrish-filled user interface, clumsy input controls, spotty wireless service (range is excellent, but the unit will randomly drop connection, regardless of having quality network...

Outstanding Blu-Ray Player

Solid player otherwise. I plan on getting a wireless bridge so that way I can stream HD without issues.

Quick loading, plays every disc I've thrown at it, company stays on top of firmware, easy setup, fairly quick bootup, stays cool and quiet, plays netflix and vudu, can connect to home network and play my xvid files

The wireless is horrible. No external antenna. Can only do wireless N on the 2.4GHZ band not 5GHZ. But on the upside it does have an Ethernet jack. The netflix streaming portion the audio gets out of sync despite re buffering. That could be the lack of...

LG Network Blu-ray Disc Player BD390

this thing is completely rad. buy it if you like stuff that's cool.

blu-ray, streams HD content via wifi without any hiccups if you have a decent router

comes with nero media home to serve digital content, and it's real bad. (tversity is about as good as free replacements get i guess) kinda glitchy when directly browsing shares and shares often disappear. can't set un/pw on the box itself so your...

not bad

coulda saved 50 bucks + if i would have just ordered the wired version.

Was fairly easy to set up using standard HDMI hook up ; Wireless setup was fairly painless (also see cons) ; Wired setup was fairly painless hooked right up to my home network and was able to access online content as well as my media server and was...

Wireless set up, while wireless N compatible only uses the 2.4 Ghz connection feature as opposed to the 5 Ghz option. Because of this, the 2.4 Ghz noise in my house from other devices as well as neighbors noise caused playback to be very sketchy at...

Beware Windows 7 64 Bit Users!

Blu Ray, Upscaling, Netflix, Media share can use Orb, Windows Sharing or Nero MediaHome. Ripped DVD VOB files can be streamed right to your TV. You can't really navigate too well but the quality is very nice

The media sharing has a pretty clunky interface but is otherwise usable. Nero MediaHome CD that comes with this unit is not compatible with 64 Bit operating systems. Neither LG or Nero claim responsibility for this. To resolve this issue you can pay...
